From poets.org - here's the link (http://poets.org/page.php/prmID/406?utm_source=npm_032708&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=npm_pocket):

The idea is simple: select a poem you love during National Poetry Month then carry it with you to share with co-workers, family, and friends on April 17.
Poems from pockets will be unfolded throughout the day with events in parks, libraries, schools, workplaces, and bookstores. Create your own Poem In Your Pocket Day event (http://poets.org/submitevent.php) using ideas below or let us know how you will celebrate Poem In Your Pocket Day by emailing (see website for address)

Something fun to do if you wish to beautify the world and out yourself at the same time.

I always carry several poems and quotes in my wallet. Some are over 20 years old and quite fragile. It's good to have when you need a lift.

...great idea; but if I were ever to share a poem with one of my philistine co-workers or friends they'd call in the men in the white coats, not that they're far from doing that as is.

They're not for sharing. They're for my own use.

my comment #3 was in reference to the quotation in comment 1, not to 2.
I carried poems on me too at one time, to read aloud when walking to and from work.
Enjoyable :)

I'm glad I looked at this before I went out today--I've got to find some amazing poem to carry with me--probably ee cummings, yes, "Anyone Lived In A Pretty How Town" is ready to travel.

Uh, is it wrong to do this pretty much every day? Haha

...when I'm reading a good poetry book and find a poem I like, I usually make at least three other people read it too. My friends understand by now, I hope :)

Within my bed the night thru
I turn and turn and think of you
And wonder when we met today
if you said what you meant to say
And what you thought, I thought you meant
And were you sorry when I went
And, did you get my meaning when...
And then the whole thing through again.
I only hope that somewhere you,
Are sleeping badly too.

The poem my (Now wife) girlfriend gave me on our second date, that has been in my wallet for 10 years.........
