Wow!
Thank you Jenna and Judges for the honorable mention!
I have to say that I’m very, very glad I became a member of this Forum. I have grown quite fond of this place and feel it is one of the best resources for writers on the net. That alone has made this whole experience worthwhile for me.
I hope we have more interactive activities like this in the future because I think it has given the Forum more exposure and bought a lot of people into the community. Plus it’s a helluva lot of fun!
And we all know that stressful times, like the Absolute Write Idol Contest and all it entailed, bring people closer together LOL!!!

Wow, what a heart attack...we should have a week break or something now, the anticipation was relentless. I was shocked to see my name up there. I'm so proud to be on the list and wish it had been bigger because there was a lot of very good work in the auditions.
I'm so excited and so happy, I had such a horrible day at work and was feeling so dejected...Thankyou so much.

...or thick, if this is available somewhere and I just haven't caught it, but --
Anyone think they could make a clickable list of the winning entries (and honorable mentions, too, aren't I greedy?) Between my connection being slow and my kids coming in and whining at me to get off the compuuuuuuuuter (whining is contagious, isn't it), I am having a devil of a time going from the list of winners to the thread of entries and yadda yadda yadda. Just thought I'd mention it.
Thanks in advance, if it's doable, and anyway, if it's not.

Congrats to to every brave soul who entered! Reading through some the audition pieces, I thought, "How are they going to pick 10 finalists? There's some super great stuff here!"
I wish I'd come to these boards sooner. What a great place to visit.
Hooray, hooray to everyone!

Congratulations to all the finalists!
And kudos to the judges. What a difficult task. But excellent choices; on reading the winners I found that for most of them I was thinking 'Oh yes. That was a brilliant one, I remember really liking that when I read it first time round.'
And thanks to Jenna for a wonderful idea. Having that extra impetus to write something or tweak something already written certainly helped me, and I'm sure it did others too.

Jenna,
We sincerely apologize. It certainly wasn't meant in such a mean-hearted way, and it was by no means intended as derogatory toward the mentally challenged.
It has unfortunately become a part of the younger generation's slang; and if it was hurtful, I'm so sorry. It was unwittingly so.
:(

WELL SCREW YOU JUDGES IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO PICK MY ENTRY THEN I DON'T WANNA PLAY YOUR STUPID GAME ANYWAY. JUST BECAUSE I DIDN'T ACTUALLY ENTER ANYTHING DOESN'T MEAN YOU COULDN'T HAVE PICKED ME ANYWAY!!!!1!!!!1! :reallyangry:
'Grats guys. I'm not really sure what the rules are, but I suppose I'll read them now and if we get to vote or something, I will be doing so. I'm already familiar with the writing of some of the finalists, and I can tell right now the judges have picked an excellent list.

When I saw Jenna say that it would be soon, I wondered how soon because my allergies were bothering me yesterday and the medicine had made me sooo sleepy. I didn't know if I could stay awake any longer. Finally, I couldn't wait anymore, and went to bed for a while. I got up around 10:30 pm or so and checked the board. In my half-asleep, medicine-influenced state, I didn't even read the right thread initially. I read the "Meet the Finalists" thread, thinking Jenna PMd the finalists and told them to post their intro. That way, it wasn't all of the top 10 at once, it was revealing them slowly. I noticed I had a private message and thought to myself surely not. Nope, it surely wasn't a PM from Jenna. Then I noticed that someone had left me some rep points and congratulated me on being an honorable mention. I felt so lost and confused. What honorable mentions? I didn't see them. I didn't even see a list of winners. (Did I mention I was half-asleep and under the influence of allergy medicine?) I finally went back and checked again and found the right thread/post, but I still didn't see any honorable mentions. I pm'd the person and told them the equivalent that I didn't see my name mentioned at all, thinking she'd eventually respond and tell me, "Whoops, I made a mistake" or "You didn't see it? It was mentioned in such-and-such post/thread." Then it dawned on me that maybe my name was mentioned later in the thread or something. So I went back and read the entire thread and finally saw my name in post #12. I had to write the person back and tell them never mind. I was going to post my congratulations and such last night, but figured if I couldn't read or navigate the board any better than I had been, I might had better wait until morning. If these thoughts are not coherent, I'm still going to blame it on being half-asleep though. :) Anyway, moving on to what this thread is really about...
Congratulations to all of the winners. I am happy and excited for each of you. During this long process of becoming a top 11 winner, I hope you remember to enjoy being one. I'm sure you're all still trying to swallow this, and can't imagine tackling the next challenge. You can do it. Take a deep breath, remind yourself you've gotten this far, and just do it. Good luck.
Congratulations to the honorable mentions as well. Out of 300+ entries, it is an accomplishment just to be mentioned, IMO. I hope you see the 'almost made it' as a positive thing.
Congratulations to all the participants as well, no matter how you finished, I commend you all for how you began. It shows a lot of courage to take a piece of your writing and post it for 'all' to see, to place it alongside the pieces of other great writers and to let a group of our peers decide the outcome.
Thank you for mentioning my name and entry. It feels honorable indeed. More importantly though, over the last couple of weeks, I have received many pm's and rep points because of my entry. People wrote just to tell me how much my story touched them, and some even said they were moved to tears. There's my honorable mention right there. Thank you.
Thanks again to Jenna and the judges.
Okay, I'm shutting up (for now). Just wanted to say everything I had to say. :)

Just wanted to join in and congratulate all the winners, honorable mentions and everyone else who screwed up their courage, were arrested for doing so and released to provide the community service of entering this contest. There weren't just an ***-ton of entries, there was a metric ***-ton.
The hardest part (imho) of writing is actually developing the courage to put your work in public, whether submitting for publication, critiques, or this event. For all of you who found it in yourselves to submit, you have my special admiration.*

To all the honorable mentions, congratulations!
Now, my question: Because of this wonderful contest I was inspired to join the water cooler, submit my own entry, and then browse around. In doing so, I happened upon a market that is actually interested in reprinting my Absolute Write idol submission essay but they state that it can't be available on the internet. Can I erase my entry? Or will it get erased at some time (when?) in the near future?

Hi all. CONGRATS to the finalists and the honorable mentions. I am however deeply confused (doesn't take much to get that way though):
first to Jenna: BLESS YOU for putting up the photo and calling to the carpet the person who mentioned the "R" word. Blast em. I totally agree with you.
Second: I am so out of the loop here: how do I find out who the winners and who the honorable mentions are? and how do I find out if I am a judge or not?
If someone could let me know via the link or email me at redjennphd@aol.com I would greatly appreciate it, as I'm still floundering my way around the boards.
Thanks so much

HI Jenna & gang:
I'm again, very confused, I think I posted on the wrong board, I'm not sure. I thought the writers contest was for scripts and I also was not sure how to find out if one was a finalist or not or how to be a judge. I did send notes to be a judge but haven't heard and I don't know what I'm missing out on. If there is a similar contest for scriptwriting, could someone let me know? Thanks so much :)

Hi Jennifer,
I think you must have us confused with another board. The judges (Three, Sara, and Richard) were chosen several weeks ago, the contest was open to all genres, the finalists have been announced in this thread, and now anyone can vote on the week 1 finalist entries.
