We could do the five course meal at Miel, a cozy little French restaurant. The salmon rillettes is excellent.

*flops onto bed*

Just spent 3 hours cleaning the house. I think I should've gone on the holiday, not mum.

Of course, I didn't have a spare $1000 lying around, so it was kind of moot...

I'm not going to have an extra $1000 either after I take everyone out to lunch . . .

That was me. *guilty*

Actually, after a much-needed shower after all that cleaning, I went out for a smoke, and I guess the wind must've been blowing in the wrong direction or something, because the smoke alarm started beeping like a mad something-or-other.

As soon as I put the cigarette down and went to go inside, it stopped. *shrug* That never happens, though... But there have been a few occasions where the smoke alarm has gone off randomly, and briefly, for no reason. So it might've been that.

Maybe the battery needs changing.

One of the batteries in mine got low and I had to listen to it beep at random times for a year before it finally died. Well, I could've just changed out the battery, but that would have made too much sense.

Nah, it wouldn't be the battery, I don't think. We've had these 2 smoke alarms for less than a year. Soon after we moved in, the old ones started beeping a lot, so we had them looked at, and yeah, they had built-in batteries that couldn't be changed and were meant to last for 10 years. Which meant that both of them needed to be replaced, because they were obviously put in at the same time (both were identical).

So yeah... Less than a year we've had these new ones.

Maybe you have ghost smoke in your house. Or better yet, ghosts smoking in your house! You can bum a cigarette off of them if you run out. :D

I don't want a haunted house! I'm the only spook to go bump in the night around here, I tell you!

In other news, I just finished the editing pass on TEC! Woo!

Need to write a synopsis and query that don't suck, and then it's time to send this sucker back out into the world. I've submitted it previously, but from December up till now I've made the novel sooooo much better.

I always thought that 29 would be my year, and I turn 29 in May. That's roughly how long it'll take to hear back from agents. Coincidence? I think NOT!

In other news . . .

Parts of the northeast are preparing for a major blizzard today and tomorrow, including New York. If it happens there are going to be major problem with travel that will ripple across the US.

It's still relatively mild where I live; currently 52 F/ 11 C.
