I spend most of my time in this room and Writing Novels, so I sometimes don't notice Announcements. Yes, that's the proper place for such things, but I'm curious now---who here has sold in the last year? July, 2008 to present, how many books have you contracted, what subgenre and to who?

It's raining in Texas (and has been for the last few days) and I need some sunshine. So, let's have a :hooray::partyguy: thread for all of our members who have sold!

I'll start:

4 books to Tor (three urban fantasy, one paranormal romance)
1 non-fiction essay to BenBella for an anthology in their "Smart Pop" series
1 short story to EDGE Books for a Canadian anthology
1 short story to Moonstone Press for a superhero anthology.

Let's hear from the rest of you! Come celebrate and bring some sunshine into this room!

Woo Hoo, Cathy. Seven! Count 'em, 7 Contracts. Go you!

And what a cool idea. It's been raining in Ontario for what feels like months now. I could use a bit of sun, too. So much more fun to celebrate what is sold than to worry about what I have yet to find a home for.;)

1 romantic comedy to Absolute X-Press (the baby sister company of EDGE)
1 contemporary romance to Wild Rose Press
1 contemporary novella to Wild Rose Press
1 contemporary romance to Siren/BookStrand
1 contemporary novella to Siren/BookStrand
1 romantic suspense novella for a Liquid Silver Books anthology

I have sold a paranormal romance to Lyrical Press. My first book!

I have a question. How do most writers get their short stories in anthologies? Is it by invitation, or through agent submissions? I have seen almost no open calls for anthology submissions, except a few small presses. Just curious.

Thanks! And here's wishing good sales for everyone.

I haven't sold any novel-length yet, but wanted to say here that I didn't know Tor bought paranormal romance. Hm... did you sell through your agent with them or directly to Tor?

I signed 2 books to Berkley Sensation.

They'll be in the same series as the last two. The manuscript for the first one is due in about a week.

Oh, you guys are an inspiration! I'm working on my first series romance after coming perilously close with a few agents on a Middle Grade novel, (for tweens) rejecting my fulls, breaking my heart. So, I took a writing breather and now I'm dusting myself off in a new genre. But I was very much encouraged when Woman's World published one of my short romantic stories this past June. Harlequin, here I come. :)

One historical romance (1920s) to Samhain.

No agent, but not for lack of trying.

That sounds so cool! 1920s is a terrific time to write about! You could be the next big thing in the market! :hooray:

Oh sure! Tor Paranormal Romance has pubbed ALL my books! Heather Osborn is the editor, and Melissa Frain is starting a YA paranormal line!

Congrats to all and a WOOT! to you, Lucy. What great news.

Since last spring:
Time travel romance to Sheaf House
3 contemporary romances including 2 reissues to Desert Breeze

I'm agented but I found all these deals myself.

I've sold 4 short stories to Necrotic Tissue Magazine since July 2008: Cardiac Episode, Scott and Mary, Teeth, and Writers Wanted.

I've sold two novels and possibly a third to Ghostwriter Publications in the UK: GRUBS, and 33 AD. GRUBS will be released in January 2010, and 33 AD will be released in June 2010. If GWP buys the third novel, it will probably be released in January 2011.

Spymaster's Lady does a bit better than My Lord and Spymaster in terms of what you might call 'critical approval'.

I guess what rocks my boat most, after the two nominations for the RITA, and the RITA itself,
(I go over and touch it sometimes, just to make sure it's real,)
is the American Library Association, Reader User Services, Reading List.

They gave Spymaster's Lady their top award for Romance genre. My Lord and Spymaster picked up one of the four 'also rans' there. here
That was a big deal for me, even though I don't suppose anyone but librarians knows about it.

I don't post in this forum much, but I lurk a lot, so...

1 erotica novel, Between Brothers, to Carnal Passions
1 gay romance novel, Rules of Engagement, to Dreamspinner Press (just got that contract this morning!)

I did have a book sold to another publisher, but when they merged with another company, the contract was terminated. Oh well, win some/lose some. Gave me a chance to overhaul the story a bit and it'll hopefully be better when I send it out again. :D

I have 5 others querying right now...hopefully they'll be added to the list above eventually. :D

I've got a three book deal with Kensington for an urban fantasy series.

I do have something I think I still have to keep under my hat regarding romance. Not quite ready to shout from the rooftops yet, as no contract in hand, but that should change soon.
