Okay, so it's not exactly a writing accomplishment like finishing a manuscript, let alone getting an agent, but this feels big to me because I want to have a career in publishing. I was getting a little frazzled because many of the internships that were likely to get me started were in New York, which a fresh-faced college graduate like me (who is understandably poor) just can't afford.
By some luck, when I mentioned to one of my creative writing professors that I was looking at these internships and looking to get into that biz, he put me in touch with the head editor and publisher of a journal he himself helps out on. And now here I am, with a local internship that will hopefully show me the ropes and prime me for the big leagues.
