Lol that sounds like it's about a recent thread about 'said' on here.

A really cool place
Hilarious. When I first stumbled upon AW, I was amazed at the amount of debate over word usage, or the appropriate way to use a comma, or dialogue tags, or even whether or not to use outlines. It can be overwhelming at first, because opinions can be drastically different, and passionate. Love it here though. Only a reader/writer would love a place where we can argue for pages of the over-use of certain names in books.

Cute and partly true.

(Though seriously, as competitive as the writing biz is, 99% of pros are nothing but kind and helpful to newbies, far beyond when they maybe should be. I've seen such kindnesses over the years; I've had them aimed at me. They'd never devise secret plans to block this poor schmuck!)

Haha! Love that. And it's true. Some people take these things way wayyyyy too seriously, imho.

Hehe, yeah, I can see us in that comic.

This is also very true. Just the other day I sent a message to an author I admire through her website, asking for her advice on something. She wrote me back soon after, writing out a lengthy response and giving me lots of good advice. I was really impressed that a pro would take the time to help a stranger out. For all the sniping on writers boards about different styles, most writers really do just want to help each other out.

And that is the truth - over and over again, I have seen people going out of their way to be helpful. :)

I eat Oxford commas for breakfast.

Rules and controversies over rules can be frustrating for new writers, however, since they don't know how seriously to take them and don't have the experience and confidence to deviate from rules.

Hmmmpf.

If the guy is writing a "twelve volume epic series of best-sellers" it doesn't matter what kind of dialog tags he uses or which comma convention he follows. No one is going to buy it and no one is going to read it.
