Hello everyone. I was perusing countless sites, looking for a place to connect with fellow writers/artists/idea people, when I came across Absolutewrite. I need to give myself a kick in the creative tail because my muse is stuck in a briefcase. I live an annoying contradiction: I love to write and create, but I often choose not to do it.
I chose to become a member, but I'm not sure where this will all lead. I figure, at the very least, it can't hurt.

Thanks, pgermanos. I've talked about writing, read about writing, and daydreamed about writing. There has been some actual writing in there too, but not much.
After I zipped through a page of threads the other day, I saw many that were intriguing to me. So I figured I would connect with some like-minded people.

Lol. Thanks Meerkat. My plan is to use this site to fan the flames of creativity, but I'm well aware that it could easily facilitate procrastination.

This is at least the 4th time I've checked in with this site today. I'm resisting the urge to rack up "easy" posts, but I also don't want to be rude to the nice folks taking the time to say hello.

Thanks Heyjude. Truthfully, I can't wait to post a short piece in SYW someday. I've submitted a couple of things in my day, and I've had friends/family read my work. Besides generic rejection letters, I've never received any unbiased feedback.
It really seems as though the feedback is solid around here. I've read through a few threads in SYW, and I reviewed a story last night and provided some feedback.

M K S, welcome and I would like to introduce myself as one of the worlds best procrastinator...as a matter of fact, if I'm able to consistently spell it, I may just take it on as one of my middle names. LOL.

Anyways, I've got the volume turned up full blast, and it certainly sounds like you have the potential to go a long way. Which way is up to you. Me...I try and put humour in anything I write.

This way the humour comes out first and the story surrounds it. Take any humourous situation and you can make a story out of it, and take any story and you can make it out to be a humourous situation.

I have to make light of life, because if I don't, then I'll really start believing that someday I'm going to die, and damn it I'll never be ready.

Lol, Calvin M.
Humor is very important to me. I work as a therapist, and I think that humor and therapy both involve working hard to understand who you are communicating with, in an effort to help, or to elicit a response.
I also think that humor and tragedy share common borders, like the US and Canada. I'll have to wait until my work is reviewed to see what other people think, but I believe my stories often straddle those borders.
