Thank goodness, I do like Perry Como as well as many other performing artists.

Welcome to all the new AW members. When you correspond with your fellow PAers who don't visit here, don't tell them flat out that they're wrong. Just let them know that you actually got to discuss publishing and writing with real professionals whose books are in stores coast-to-coast. Tell them in private emails that PA can't view. No sense in needlessly getting yourself banned. Then let them know they can join free and learn almost all they want to about the industry and writing.

You don't have to tell them that PA is lying because PA wants to isolate all those writers so they'll purchase their own books. They can learn that as they go along absorbing all that other knowledge that they truly do need if they want to be successful writers. Eventually, they'll come to the realization you have already. Even if they don't, at least they'll learn what works in self-promotion and what doesn't. Think of it as a gift from you to them that won't cost you or them a cent, but will enrich both your lives for many years.

No matter how much I protest about consistency in banning posts and authors from these message boards, I love these message boards with a passion...It is an idea that is not matched anywhere in the publishing world...And those who attempt to copy this effort pretty much fall flat on their dictionaries...I think the reason for that is the calibre of the authors and writers at Publish America. It is also because of the calibre of the administrative staff at PA who work very hard at maintaining quality. Now with that said, is it possible to forgive those who have committed "unforgiveable" offenses regarding PA? Is there a way back for the truly contrite who might have been led astray by I have heard from some of these authors and, from my perspective, they may be deserving of a second chance. Any thoughts or suggestions along these lines?...

Correct sir sk... PA haters and bashers? not P.A. author haters, I said, over there, over there, over there. across the sea over....

I think the theory that PA was in on this hoax to draw attention away from the agreement/termination letters is a valid one. We may never know if they really were involved or not, but as Ed has indicated, they certainly aren't disavowing any knowledge or participation in the hoax.

If that's the story – and I don't know, of course, but it's plausible – it shows a fair degree of stipidity.

I once gave a poster to a Borders store in order to promote a book signing I was holding (this was many years ago, back when they were still willing to order in copies...and back when PA would actually get books to bookstores on time for these events

).

I went in a few days before my signing, and lo and behold, no poster anywhere. So I asked for the poster back. Not only had they not put the poster up, but they had in fact LOST it...ugh.

I don't know, Jim. All the books I review look like the real deal, except for the "NOT FOR RESALE" tidbit on the front and marketing info on the back.

Sucking up? No way! Everyone knows I speak my own mind. Not only that, but I own some Perry Como records. Yes, records and a turntable to play those on! Seattle is still the one song I liked best that Perry did. Of course, it drives everyone crazy when I follow it up with something from Metallica.

That was my point, Jim. At my magazine job, we get sent promos to review. I actually get mad when I don't get a real book. (It's not like reviewing pays a heck of a lot. At *least* give me a free book.)

Now, at the bookstore, more often than not, we get galleys *then* we get promo copies.
