I got my first rejection ever. I had sent my fiction ms to a small publisher who (now) only publishes non-fiction. It was my own fault, but the publisher said he'd take a look anyway.

When the ms came back five months later with a nice, complete letter, I was still a little dejected. I didn't touch the book all weekend. The letter said there was nothing wrong, except that it was fiction. But that didn't matter; I still felt the pain.

I'm sure I'll get a taker, but this first one stung a little. Thick skin, thick skin, thick skin...

At least it was only because it was fiction. Just keep submitting and I'm sure you'll snag a contract!

[SIZE=-1]It’s not personal, Sonny. It’s strictly business.

Sorry to hear about your rejection, especially after they said they'd look at it even though it was fiction.

On the other hand, congratulatios on your first rejection. You're submitting! Yea!

Have some chocolate, and send that puppy out again.
