It's also a sad fact that many Muslim nations have vowed the destruction of America and its people. And their citizens were very publicly and vociferously proclaiming joy when the Twin Towers were destroyed and the Pentagon almost destroyed. As well as all the kidnappings, beheadings and countless other attempts over the years.

So it's no huge surprise that the American people would have some misgivings about electing a Muslim as their leader during these trying times. That's just human nature.
