Excavation by James Rollins. It's my first Rollins book and I'm hooked! To paraphrase the blurb inside the book..."Archeology, lost inca cities, graves, gold and death - what else could you want in a book?" I completely agree with that. This book is addictive and the good news is I have 2 other books of his ready to read right after. Anyone else a James Rollins fan?
Charley's Web by Joy Fielding. Really good book - moves quickly, there's a lot intersecting story lines without being confusing, and I like the character dinamics. I recommed it. 
Re-reading The Host by Stephenie Meyer (I adore all her books), also re-reading Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I'm also reading An Unquiet Mind by Kay Redfield Jamison for the first time. All three are excellent.
My wife read The Host and loved it too. She is currently reading New Moon and loves that series too.
I haven't read the Host yet but I plan to.

I finished Annihilation Conquest after drawing it out as long as I could. I'm now on to Book of Air and Shadows by Michael Gruber. I also have The Reapers by Connolly waiting on the shelf.
...and The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins. Fascinating and way too erudite for a summer afternoon...
Hemingway's For Whom the Bell Tolls. Inter-library loan fails in rural Missouri, but at least I'm reading something good anyway.
Ugh, I hated that book freezer. Hemmingway isn't my cup of tea, or maybe it was just the story. All I can say was that I'd have just loved to have gone into that book and murdered all the characters dead!
Anyway... what shall I read? Finished Diana Wynne Jones book - feeling a bit depressed that it's over. No, I have here either The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch or The Swarm by Frank Schatzing. Which one!
The Swarm seems to have mixed reviews, with the main criticism that it's too long and could have done with a sheering. I usually take Amazon reviewers with a pinch of salt, but these reviews seem quite sensible. Humm humm hummmm.

I Know This Much is True by Wally Lamb. So far, what I notice about Lamb (I've read his stuff before) is that he's not afraid of writing an MC who's thoroughly unlikable.

That book is one of my favorite books of all time. It's definately in my top ten list somewhere.

FWIW, I absolutely love The Lies of Locke Lamora. Lynch is, in my opinion, a genius at plotting. Some people dislike his method of storytelling though, as he doesn't write in chronological order. I found after I got used to it, no other way would have made sense considering the type of story it is. Or at the very least, the "confidence games" would be way too easy to figure out.
Gah, now I want to reread it! And the second too. Can't wait for #3, preordered it the day they started taking 'em.
Anyways, I'm reading Kushiel's Dart right now. It's not exactly something I usually read, but so far I'm finding it interesting. On page 60-something, I think. Not far in. I just wish there wasn't so much background given all at once; I can't keep all the names and places straight any better than Phedre is at this point.

Just read A Thousand Splendid Suns. I could see the ending coming from a mile out, but it was still enjoyable in a grind-your-heart-into-little-pieces kind of way.
Now reading Twain's Puddn'head Wilson, which I found at Goodwill along with a softcover Kite Runner, Rum Punch, Ellison's Juneteenth and Kundera's Immortality all in great condition, $2 a pop.
Great place to book shop if you have the patience.

Well, I've enjoyed what I've read of Hemingway already (The Sun Also Rises and A Farewell to Arms) but I have to say, I hate the way Hemingway's main characters have an uncanny ability to fall in love, have deep, meaningful relationships, and have cheesy dialogue with women they've only known for five minutes. It seems like in a Hemingway novel, every character is usually fairly well written except for the love interest.
I've just finished "In the Wake" by Per Petterson (although I read it in the original language). A good read, but not as strong as the amazing "Out Stealing Horses".
I just finished Strawberry Fields, by Marina Lewycka. It was okay. Now I'm reading This All Happened, by Michael Winter. I love it.
