Hello,
I am a new writer, working on my first novel - a humorous roman a clef about office politics. An agent showed interest in it, and requested some revisions. I made them. She liked them, and requested more revisions.
I am seeking advice on how to best approach these revisions.
The first round was pretty easy, because the advice from the agent was concrete - get rid of this chapter, get rid of that character, add more detail about that character. That translated to editing and rewriting specific sections of the manuscript.
This current request for revisions is more abstract. For example:
> I need to SEE things. This advice sounds a bit like Fiction Writing
> 101, but really, the book is a lot of heavy summation at times, and
> not enough visuals. I don't need paragraph after paragraph of
> description, but in order to become more engaged with the story, the
> reader should be able to visualize things fluently and clearly on
> his/her own accord.
How do I approach this? There is a lot more along those lines.
Any advice from experienced writers (or even inexperienced ones who know what they are talking about) is much appreciated!
