Very cool. I submitted a query to them on Oct 31 and have heard absolutely nothing back. Also...I sent a follow-up, which they encourage you to do...and still heard nothing.

Bummer is, we still might not hear from them--if they aren't interested, they won't respond. But at least they give us a date to when we can expect a reply if they are interested--Feb 1.

...I finally wrote a decent query letter today.

It figures--an opportunity like this opens up, and I finally get right the thing they aren't accepting in this particular opportunity.

Thanks for posting this! I just sent off my first chapter to them and had a short little letter thanking them for doing this. Got a nice letter back in return. :)

I have two versions of my first chapter. I had rewritten it recently so now I have to figure out which one is getting sent to Firebrand. damn. This is hard! I so want them to read more!

Awesome! They have gotten 1653 samples, read 189 of them between all their agents and Nadia Cornier has made 11 requests out of the ones she's read so far. I am so excited about this, I hope they like my sample. :D Good luck to my fellow writers too! :D

Yeah, I'm not going to rehash the trauma fits I'm having over submitting.

But if anybody asks...

Hey! Where ya goin'?

I had a request for a full (on another piece) by an e-pub this month already, so I'm hoping for good news twice!

Oh...
I don't think she's going to request mine then. I sent it the very first day. *sadness* :)

Oh well.
Well, she did say that there were 500 entries the first day and she's only read about 200. Also, I sent mine the SECOND midnight came, so I had to be one of the first but I got a request for the full from Nadia a week later! :snoopy: So don't give up hope just yet guys!

Thanks guys! Looks like they've got an epic mound of reading to do, so I'm not holding my breath. I'm sure they'll wait till after the end to read the fulls...

I'm waiting a few days to send mine. I keep worrying that i'll send it, then find a spelling mistake or something that i want to change quickly.

Well, don't laugh too hard, I went to a Writer's Conference were they held an 'Idol' contest. Everyone gave their first chapter and it was read outloud by a 3rd party. There were 6 agents sitting in the panel veto-ing every chapter after the first 1-2 sentences, unless they loved it. 4 lucky people got agents that day. I did not.
However, someone snuck in a chapter from Margaret Atwood The Handmaid's Tale and they veto-ed it after the first paragraph! So .... we all learned from that.
