Good luck, Kody.

Well, the agent passed on one of the two new books I've written. If he passes on the second one, then he'll force my hand to do something I'm not looking forward to. Yep, the big switch. I wouldn't have minded if he handn't worked with me on this book previously, leading me along the way with revisions, but actually seems to have forgoton those sessions and doesn't even recognize the same book anymore. Guh.

hi everyone!
can I join in the conversation? My YA novel just went on sub to editors Friday of last week. not supposed to give more details than that, but it'll be nice to bump elbows with people in the same boat.
...the same stormy boat.
with lightning.

AFAIK, it's like us, querying agents. Only our agents have more clout when they Q pubs.

Plus, the editorial rejections are nicer than the agent rejections! And they're almost always personalized! Whoo-hoo!

Howdy all! I'm learning about the NEXT Circle of Hell. I'll get back to you on that soon. There actually does seem to be a circle in sight that's not hellish too. Just kind of weird and hard to take in.

Yep, Sage. I'm afraid so. Now, the book before that one was actually mapped out by us--young female MC--great romance--paranormal with some real dark, horrific shite. We worked on it for six months, making it to chapter six, before he decides he doesn't like the use of portals. If he would have read further, he would seen pages and pages of my bent on the physics of teleportation. But no. So I said "fine, I won't saddle you with something you're not in love with" then pulled it from him. I sold it two weeks later.

Now this. I know that you went through something similar, and I can't blame you for your decision--probably the best thing you ever did. I'm very close now to you know what. I've got a female Iron Man, that is a straight Clancy-esque type military thriller. I don't even know why I should bother anymore. I really don't think I want him to have it. It's time to talk to Victoria.

Kody: hi!! exciting that we're on sub together.
Sage: yeeeaah, well you will be soon
YAwriter: waiting sucks. don't you have another book just about ready to sub, though? doubling your chances ftw
Triceretops I don't know the story behind this, but I feel for you... sounds like it truly might be time to switch. you deserve someone who sees eye-to-eye with you.

Tri,

Oh, man, you are making me really grateful for my decision, but major hugs for you. I'm almost dumbfounded at the thought of working that closely for six months with someone on a project, only to have him decide not to go forward with it.

I"m lucky in the sense that I've been moving really fast. I only got "the call" last month, and now I've finished the revisions and am moving ont to the pitch fast.....which makes me think karma will be a bitch and leave me hanging for months. lol

Or the pattern will continue and you will get an offer in record time. My money is on the second option. ;)

(Slinks back under table where I will be hiding until my revisions with my agent are done.)

Okay, totally random question. But I am so curious! I was having a discussion with some people yesterday about facebook. Do any of you have your agents as facebook friends? I don't, but a friend of mine assumed I would. What is your all's opinion on the issue?

My agent is on Facebook, but he doesn't check it very often. (I've friended him, he hasn't accepted, but he has at least one other client on his friends list, so I assume that he just hasn't logged on)

I friended mine, but I'm not a huge Facebook user in general so I'm not too afraid of embarrassing myself.

If you're about to start your first year of college, you might wait. ;) You never know what escapades your friends may post about.

Mine isn't on Facebook, but I'd friend her if she was.

That being said, my Facebook is mostly a place for me to connect with the writing community instead of a personal place. It's pretty much reserved for web presence if I ever get pubbed. If it was a personal Facebook profile, I might not friend then.

My agent is my friend on Facebook, but I noticed that she's taken down a lot of her 'personal' stuff that she had up, and she mentioned once that people had brought it up to her in queries or at a conference ("Love your vacation photos!") and it was a weird experience.

So I think it's in that weird 'between' area. Neither fish nor foul.

(I'm finding Facebook more and more annoying these days. If one more person sends me flair/flowers/etc, I'm going to hurt someone.)
