oh ok, can you do this in anything or just paste it to here,

I was sent a letter from the cover design department and i still remember even now how excited i was when they sent me the image as they called it, They did do a good job on that, even swords that's here thats seen it, can say that much. if she could put it back here I would appreciate it cause i tried what she said to do and still couldnt do it. I dont know if they have used it before but sure they probably have after looking at all the rest here, and yes they lead you to believe that they design it for you and no one else has this image. but yes, i agree i love it, after all i said to put a hot guy on the front and thast what they did, even favored the male character in a lot of the stories, so couldnt complain about that part.

SWORDS, can you do that for me here and see if you can find my cover on others. i still cant get that paste thing to work.

Wanda your bookcover is still here, it's just on the page before this one. I just went to QoS's post and hit quote and voila... here it is.

No problem Wanda. If you'll look under the last post on each thread, you'll see the number of pages each one contains. All you have to do is click on any page number to bring up that page of posts.

Wanda you should be able to put that photo in your signature line.

Hold your mouse over the picture and right click. You should see an option that says "save image as." Choose that option, then when your computer opens the save folder, save it to either your pictures folder or your desktop so you can find it easily. Then, go to your usercp at the top of this page or any other page on AW, and click on that. Along the left side will be options to edit your settings. Choose edit signature and scroll down to "Upload Signature Picture"... click on the browse option, choose your photo from where you have it stored and hit submit or save, whichever option it gives you there. That should get your bookcover in your sig line. Then you won't have to look for it when you want to see it.

No time for list making, too many daily quotas to get through. If it looks okay, add a name and title... next. They only have minutes to spend on each book yanno.

As someone who used to put random stock images into PowerPoint presentations for a professor, I've got to wonder if it isn't more a case of intentional duplication. I could be wrong, but it's just very easy to imagine someone working, seeing a title, and say, "Oh, yeah! I've got just the thing. I just did a thing with roses a couple of months ago. I'll slap that one on here too and call it a day."

If I knew I had used a picture previously, it was much easier and faster to go find said picture and use again than find a new one.

it wouldnt really matter if every PA book had the same cover. No one besides the author buys these books, so who's going to notice? I'm sure that's exactly what PA is thinking too.

I am pretty sure of that also. I mean they sort of know that b@N isnt going to see the books anywhere and neither is no one else except maybe Amazon.com they will because thats the only place they go other than Abe books, and a few places that i have seen. I did see my book on yahoo.com. All of you need to check there. Its also in INDIA> look at something called flipkart.com or just google your book. you can find out anything then.

You have to wonder if Miranda has seen this page where QOS has caught on to all of our covers being used over and over again. Why should we care. Maybe they will start improving.

No, Wanda, they won't start to improve. They have no reason to.

can i ask a question then? so why shoud we care what miranda thinks, if shes on here and sees it, shes not going to improve it, say whatever we want tos ay, i mean really how could we all get any less money than what we get now. i mean really think about it.

My understanding is that PA authors sometimes have a harder time getting out of their contract if PA finds out that they're posting here. Also, PA will ban them from their forums.

It's your choice, of course. It's just better to make that choice knowingly, instead of being blindsided by PA's tactics.

These threads aren't here for Ms. Prather or anyone who works for PA. They're here to provide information to others who may be considering PA as an option because they believe it to be a real commercial publisher who will get their books onto store shelves. They're also here for people who have signed with PA and want to share their experiences with others (good or bad, though there aren't many with good ones).

This thread in particular is here so the people who believe that PA has a "designer" working meticulously on their cover can see otherwise. There's not much design involved, and there's apparently no oversight as to doubled covers.

NO commercial publisher would put the same cover art on two books it sent out to stores. For legit commercial publishers, that would be an unprofessional thing to do and it would confuse consumers. Nor would a commercial publisher intentionally copy the cover art used by a novel from another publisher.

These threads are also not a matter of "say anything", but a matter of saying the truth about a company. You do not ever belittle the people - of which you are one - who signed on for something they didn't fully understand. You wouldn't like coming on here and seeing people make fun of something you said or did. I know you're angry and want to vent, but saying "anything" about a company without proof isn't always legal.

You tell your story, you document how you've been treated. You document fallacies posted on the PAMB or those posts that will be pulled because they're contrary to the image that PA wants in the public eye. On this particular thread, you post photos of identical covers or comment on them.

I know, but so far i dont think they will ever let anyone out of anything at all. not as long as they can make money. i dont plan on buying anything at all. no author copies at all?

i have already been kicked out of their last year for asking them to add something to back cover at last minute. guess they didnt like it.

People have gotten out of their PA contracts; me for one. It wasn't an impossible task but it took persistence on my part. Others have also gotten out of their PA contracts, only to find that PA is still selling their books. In fact, I still see a lot of places that still have my book listed for sale. Some I know have copies of my book and others I imagine are just listed because of the ISBN#.

Judging from your posts, I'd say you are awfully young. I'm curious because if you are under 18 and your parents didn't agree to let PA print your book, then your contract wouldn't be legal. If you are over 18, then... and not judging here, just saying.... you need to work on how you present your writing. If you ever hope to gain the interest of a real agent or a good publisher, you have to write correctly. If your writing isn't up to standard, you won't find any agent or publisher that will even read your work. Something to think about since you seem to want to earn money from your writing. Again, not fussing, just making an observation.

how did you get out of it? I am over 40 years old, and have forgotten alot of what I learned in school, believe it or not I was very good in school and could have did better, I will agree with that, but I didnt listen to my teacher, I wish I would have now. she tole me to worry about education more than dating cause there would be plenty of time for that later. God, I believe it now, and I try and tell girls in school get a education, and if you can get a grant or whatever to go to school and further it. do it. There was no Hope grant in the 80s. I wish now that it would have been, I had did alot of things different. But, when you are young and stupid you dont, listen to anyone at all. You pay for it when you are older though, like now.i have no work history cause when i did or do work husband stops working, and i cant make enough to support us, so that mean i quit to make him go to work, in short i have no family to help me, mom and dad are gone. So I am stuck with no work history. I am just trying to get by, and do this. he doesnt support me in anything that i do. so i am writing by myself.

Then you have come to the write place to learn and further your knowledge of writing. You may need to invest in some books that will help you gain more knowledge of the English language, but don't let that discourage you in the least. I'm in my 40's too, grew up right next door in Alabama and wasn't the best student either, but I loved English and Grammar and found an interest in writing as well. It's never too late to learn.

As for getting out of my PA contract, I have receipts and other information that I confronted them with, as well as many places that still list my book for sale. Some have actual copies and others I have not heard back from as of yet to know if they have copies or not. A lot of online stores list what is called a virtual listing, meaning they picked up the information with the ISBN# but don't actually have the product. As long as it's available to order, they can still sell it. It took me ten days to get my certified letter from PA giving my book rights back, but in that ten days I was most persistent and didn't let their rude replies slow me down one bit.
