Hi all,

It's time to start thinking about our next blog chain! The October blog chain went brilliantly but here’s what I figured: most everyone will be participating in NaNo and will more than likely not have much time to devote to a November blog chain so I thought a list would be fitting. For example: 'What would you bring to a deserted island?,' a bucket list, or 'If money was no object, how would you spend a day?' sort of list...

Let me know what you think or if you have any other suggestions.

For the November blog chain we will simply adhere to the rules from October chain.

1. We each get two days to submit our post
2. Once we have done so we post a direct link to our submission to the chain here on the forum
3. We include a list/link of all participants and their placement relative to yours in the chain.

How about a how to survive NaNo list?
Or a list on ones strategy on how to succeed/reach ones goal for NaNo
Or something along those lines.

If it's something NaNo related, I may participate (depending on subject), but otherwise I will skip November, because as Claire rightly pointed out, NaNo will be priority for November.

All right, here is what I suggest. Those participating in NaNo write about how they are progressing or anything relating to NaNo they like. While those of us who are not participating in NaNo write a list or whatever we like.

The chain works like this:
1. You ask to be included and you are added to the list.
2. A subject is chosen democratically then we choose a starting date and we are off.
3. The first person writes their post on their blog with a link that connects to the person that follows them in the chain.
4. Once their post is up they return here to the forum and ‘say I’ve post my entry and now it’s [name of next participant here] then the next person does the same until the chain reaches the last person.

Ok, so I kind of like how people can be included whether or not they do NaNoWriMo, but I thought the point of the chain was to link up so there should be some relation to each other or at least the previous poster.

Normally yes that is the case but because there are those doing NaNo and the rest of us who are not the chain is freer. In December I’m sure we’ll be back to a more unified chain.

I'm sure there's still some sort of theme that can connect the two. Photos of desks? and describing our working space?

I think the chain loses it's impact if it's just a bunch of random unrelated posts.

The initial idea had been a list so why don’t we make it a writer’s survival list this way those in NaNo make it relative to their goal/process and the rest of us can make it relative our own writing.
