I'm back! I am thrilled to say this once more!!

I'M FINISHED!! :partyguy:

That's right, my WIP is finished at 100,747 words! I am celebrating once again. Tomorrow I'm going to take the day off and on Sunday I'm going to work on my next WIP which is currently 36,699/100,000 words. I can't wait. So excited!

...And it's all thanks to your support!

Magali: That's wonderful!! Go you! You deserve to be excited.

Sorry I've been away. I've not done jack for weeks. There's been "trouble at the mill" so to speak and I haven't had much heart to write (or unwrite, as I'm shortening a behemoth). But the worst seems to be over and I'll be back at it soon (hopefully!)

Haven't been around for a while, but I wrote 1.5K tonight. I dunno if I'll get any more done, so I'll post now :).

14K down. 56K to go.

Working Title: The Fringe
Current Length: ~660 words (written freehand, so it's a pretty rough estimate. It's probably a lot more, but I'll use it for the below measures.)
Estimated Final Length: 5,000-6,000 words?
Target Finishing Date: 06/21/2010

Minimum Goal: ~330 words per week
Target Goal: ~1,100 per week

It's a reincarnation of an old, broken story. Much better than the last, I think, so I'd really like to finish it this time. Feel free to drop me a PM if you'd like to get in touch.

Also, congrats to Magali; I hope to be in your shoes soon.

Update!

I decided to kill the 36,000-something word story I was working on because yesterday I opened it and it was a mess (deleted it) and I didn't know how in the world to fix it, so right now I am working on another WIP, this one is not messed up, thank God. It started at 30,702 words and right now it's at 35,789 words, but I think the reason why it's going so fast despite how tired I am is because I had the part that I'm working on now written by hand and now I'm just typing it on the computer. I hope I'lll be able to come up with new scenes when I run out of the handwritten scenes because my medication makes me feel tired. Even so, even if I don't do the habitual almost 7,000 daily words, I'll do a little bit, even if it's half a usual 10-page chapter or something like that but I will not let my medication stand in my way like I did last year. If I hadn't let writer's block defeat me, at least three of my six incomplete novels would be finished.

I will come back saying that I'm done for today but I have no idea how many words this will be in the end. I'm on page 55/57. Wish me good luck.

Another update.

My WIP officially went up from 30,702 words to 37,276 words in one day. Now I'm going to see if I can do a little more because I want to know if I can go back into a previous chapter that was unfinished, chapter 5 and add two or three pages just to see if I am once again able to get scenes from the top of my head like I was able to before I started taking my new medicine Saturday. Just a test, but I hope the scenes are good. I don't know if this has happened to you before, but all of a sudden I decide that my chapter needs a few more pages so I add new scenes. I did it with an old book, 'Strange World', added pages to all the chapters and it resulted better than I expected.

Thanks guys.

I'm back for another update.

This was my best day ever! When I started my WIP was at 30,702 words (I have to keep posting it because I can't believe it, I'm shocked) and I finished, for today, at 39,519 words!! Woo-hoo! That's 8,817 words!! The most I've done in one day!! Wow! I am so excited! Tomorrow I will only do my ten daily pages (today I did 13) with my handwritten document, you know, copy it to the word processor. It should be easy since it's only typing handwritten scenes. It's a little more complicated when I have to do it off the top of my head although I did 3 of those 13 pages off the top of my head. :D I was able to do that once again despite my very drowsy medicine!! I am in heaven right now. So proud of me!! I can't say it enough times, I love this challenge!

I will keep you posted, guys! I am planning to finish this first draft of this WIP at the end of the month. 39,519/100,000 words. Phew, it's going to be a tough one! Wish me luck!!

Rather failed to get it done as quickly as I'd hoped but I did finish 83k by last Thursday. I sent it to my agent today. Good luck to everyone else!

Yeah got a bit bogged down in the middle, got a bit distracted by real life. This is fairly normal for me. I always find middles hard. I got through that and then got cold feet again about 10k from the end and I couldn't quite make it to the finish.
I am a bit of a hare about books. I race ahead and then stall and then race ahead again. Steady tortoise work would probably achieve a similar word count over a similar amount of time, but is not in my nature.
I just checked I've done about 65k since the beginning of March so while it wasn't quick it wasn't that slow either. Over the course of a novel I often have a couple of awkward patches. Sometimes it is all easy and those books are a joy to write - this one wasn't one of those : ( (This is my thirteenth completed novel and 'unlucky for some. ' It probably wasn't going to be easy!)
Thanks for your good wishes and good luck with your stuff!

Well, this is somewhat of a shock for me. I tried to push past my climax scene and add words to my book, but it just wasn't working. You just can't go too far past the resolution of your main conflict.

I'm going to go back and lengthen some scenes and do some serious editing. I even have a few scenes left to write--places where I just left notes for myself on what needed to happen. But just now, I wrote "THE END".

It's novella length, and may never make it to a full-blown novel, but whatever it is, the rough draft of this story, "You Don't Have to Cook in the Clink" is finished.

I FINISHED!!!

YAAAAAAY!!!

This calls for a new goal: one page or 50 words worth of editing/day. Right after I get done doing a snoopy dance.

Thanks, Magali.

I plan on sticking around until this finished rough draft becomes a truly finished book. :)
