And ... I'm back again. Good morning! Didn't manage to get to sleep 'til about 1.30am in the end - darn laptop had 25 blooming updates to process before it would shut down (I was only thinking the other night that I hadn't had any for a while - fatal!!).
Hey Netz. I'm still around. And not because I necessarily want to be. Working on a stupid assignment for my English class.

Good morning. I've been on in various places today. Then I took some time to make a dump truck out of an egg carton with my son. That's how my day rolls.

I did that too when I was a kid, with bottle caps or buttons superglued in the center to Q-tips, and punched thru the sides, for the wheels - so it rolled. Lol. Glad to see it is still a classic.
I'm good. Just hanging around, and working on my WIP. Need to change some things on the end that I came up with last night. Need to extend it without adding bulk or bogging it down. Lol.
Never did the dumpster truck thing... sadly... sounds fun!

P-dragon--I didn't add wheels to this one, we kind of drew them on. Though I did make a functional dumping part so he can put legos and things in it. We make a lot of things out of useless stuff. I made a fishing pole for him once out of cut up paper roll, an old ribbon spool, some yarn, pipe cleaners and a plastic toy broom (for the pole itself). Then we made fish out of paper for him to "catch". It was a hit.
Sadly, I think a lot of parents just go buy stuff for their kids instead of using imagination together, but there are many crafty people out there too.
amlptj--I'm glad you posted your query. I don't know enough about how to do them to offer any advice (but I'll be reading to see what others say so I can learn too). Even if it does get ripped to shreds, that's how you learn.

When I was little my Grandma used curlers in her hair, the black metal and mesh kind with the plastic bobby-pin-ish-stick you put thru the center. Well, she had some old plastic one, all colors. Bright lime green, pink, turqouise, and they were different shapes, hour glass shapes and had plastic sleeve like pieces that snapped on - those became my 'errector-set' pieces. I would build space ships and all kinds of stuff. Lol. It was great! Kinda sad though, huh... But I love it. They were my favorite, even over the duplos I had at home. Loved Duplos - hated Legos. They were a pain to play with and if you lost them, forget it. Lol

Oh, and his Legos aren't really Legos, I just say that for lack of a better word. I don't remember exactly what the blocks he uses are called, but basically they are different lengths and colors and they snap together and you can build stuff out of them. So, Legos is good enough, LOL! Oh, and they are big enough so the kiddies can't choke on them.

Glad you liked it, yeah the colored one were ones she did not use anymore, so she gave them to me once she found me playing with them. Incidentally, the ones with the bungie-cord are for 'Perms'. You know, the chemical concoction you put in your hair to make straight hair curly. Those also came in a variety of colors too, most a long slender hourglass shape with snap-cap at the end to secure them around the hair, but some were also like a lipstick tube with the little snap-cap end on the bungie. Anyway, perms went out for the last like 6-9 years, but I saw a box at Walmart the other day, bungie-curlers included. Lol! So, I guess it might be coming back. In the early 2000's to today it was all about hair-cut, not perm like the 1950's. Chuckle. I think that is why it went 'out' for so long.
Oh, I had a perm in the 90's. Yep. Sure did. 1992-ish. A spiral perm. They were all the rage when I was in 7th grade.
Laugh, yeah, that's where the bungies came from. Chuckle. I had fun with them too, only they could be projectile weapons, like a sling shot - not always a good thing. Lol
