Does anyone else do this? Multiple Love Interests

I guess that's why outlining would help, but damn it I feel I don't have time for all that planning in the beginning. Finish the manuscript, if you can (and not like me), and it's mainly about the characters I mean they drive the story in a literal sense. Whatever happens happens. Your mc ends up with that person the journey takes them to. You can always change things in the next draft of revision. If you truly want your mc with the person you planned for them and it keeps eating at you, change it to that. It sounds like there's a love square so whatever character your mc has the most chemistry with in the story should fit. You two should hash it out.

I had this very problem in Love Sucks. Originally I had a simple triangle with the girl thinking she loved one person when she was obviously in love with someone else (and she knew it, but thought they couldn't be together). Then I introduced this new boy. And it became really clear to me that they had a different type of chemistry and that for storytelling purposes, it made more sense for her to end up with him. And sometimes I still feel like the first guy was the OTP, but other times I feel like she went with the right guy.

In an abandoned WIP that I'm considering picking back up, I have been completely unable to decide which LI is the one I want the MC to end up with, and which one will turn out to betray the MC. I'm leaning one way, though, and it's not the way I originally thought it was going to turn out, lol.

For me, exploring what can happen to relationships (realizing you're with the wrong person etc) is part of YA because its part of growing up. There are multiple possibilities for LIs for all my important characters, not just my MC. I like a little confusion
