The Finish the Damn Book Challenge

I can't wait until I finish my revisions so I can finally start on the next story running around in my head and then jump back into this thread. So far, I've resisted doing anything with it, even creating the outline, but my will is weakening.

Are you a member of story starters anonymous? This sounds exactly like something I would do. I would suggest writing down the main idea, maybe even a detailed outline, if that's your sort of thing. If it's not been a chronic problem, though, go ahead and write it.

On to other topics, I wrote 300 words two days ago and spent yesterday and today editing my WIP. It's up in western SYW and I'm just a little nervous.

First time it's happened. I started to stall a little on the other WIP. Starting this one will let me go back to the first with a fresh view later.

Suffering some major danger of falling out of touch with my WIP it's literally been weeks since I've gotten any large chunks of work done...I need a kick in the pants.

But seriously, just start writing. Whether it's for your current WIP or just random writing, just start and see what happens. Pick a topic out of the air and start writing on it. Hopefully, that will get you excited about your WIP and you'll really start rolling on it.

I didn't write last night but I made up for it this morning. Still, I'm thinking of writing on Saturday (usually my day off) to really make up for it.

Princess, that's how the idea for the novel I'm working on originated. I was working on a historical novel when I got sidetracked to this. I think I made the right decision and I do someday want to get back to my historical.

Sorry I've been gone...I got sucked into a major parkour event and boy was it fun and I have a ton of stories and we got to train with one of the Yamakazi! Fangirl SQUEEEEEE!

(Tries to get a hold of self, fails.)

Made it to 52K today. Yay!!!!

I was trying to get to 30k last night, but I got tired. I was able to get 4000words down. I'm at 28k.

. I wrote a short story this morning called Hubris. It's basically a steampunk version of Terminator and it's terrible...but I wrote something! Now to get back into editing my WIP. Happy writing everyone!

I was able to get 3000words done tonight. I got to 31k. I'm so excited about this story I'm flying through it. I've never been able to write this much this fast. I can't wait to finish.

I'd like to offer something that has been useful to me. I work on two WIPs at a time. I write at least my absolute minimum (which is 50w/day) in each one until it is finished. I believe that the dry spells (which I encounter a lot) in either WIP are getting resolved more quickly this way.

Two at once works best for me, too. A little pressure in two places seems less daunting than too much pressure in one place, I guess.

I just don't believe in forcing yourself to write. My philosophy follows Chuck Palahniuk's in that I don't think sitting down and churning out crap is any help. If you can't produce something, work on something else or do something else. Having another WIP to switch to will at least increase the chances that I'll put some words down if I get into a jam.

yah, I hear you. I've been finding what I've been doing quite useful so when something looked like an opportunity to share I had a hard time resisting!

(ps - you used to have an icon of a drawing of a woman wearing a feathered headdress. The art looked really familiar, wondering what that was...)
