Congrats Andrea for finishing the damn book. Congrats to everyone else with your accomplishments. Today I'm going to work on Vlad meeting his future in-laws, and possibly his wedding.

Not getting much writing done today and tomorrow because of holiday cooking, cleaning, and mother visiting. Happy Thanksgiving to all the Americans on this thread!

:tongue Yeah it should. Fixed it. It was supposed to be 500.

Ok, I got another 900 words. Total for today was 1400.

That's amazing! Brilliant.

2080 words in 2 hours.
Finished chapter 7 and passed 20,000 words total. What an awesome night it has turned out to be :)

Awesome work everyone. Keep it up. Whoop whoop, go us!

Good grief! That's massive.

I've done too many words this past weekend, from Saturday to Monday, for me to keep exact track of. I am working on simultaneous series at once, three that I can think of off the top of my head.

All Our Children
Superstars
and
Christian's Doppelganger.

Crying Angels, at least the first part is finished at 155k words.
The second part of the story set in 1985 is almost done at 103,000/130,000 words but I have to integrate a whole book into the middle of that because there are some events that are crucial to the whole series that take place in the year 1981 alone, and ////////

When I finish Superstars which currently stands at 20k out of 120k intended words, I will post the final WC on that. I just do too many words to count.

Cheers
Margarita.

I feel like I should go curl up in a corner and hide, - just wow!
Now I have written a lot in one burst before now but that usually also entailed still being awake and still working at 5 or 6 am, following a night where things just flowed almost magically out of me, but you lot just make my mind spin!

Especially as last night I wrote zilch.
Okay I did go to the local writer's group, but I wasn't allowed to read out and so didn't even get the minimal feedback that just reading aloud gets you.
It's very frustrating.

Congratulations on the finish.

I'm shooting for hitting the 70,000 word mark today (2,000 words). I still really want to get this done by the end of 2011.

Andrea, congratulations! No, this is so big I have to say it twice. Congratulations! Holy wow.

Monkey, nice on getting a sponsor. What does that entail?

Everyone is doing so well. I am in awe. And welcome to the challenge, Fran!

I've been very off and on. Yesterday I wrote 315 words. I think I'm up to something like 41,000. Which means, because I've been lazy (and possibly something else, like scared), that I probably won't finish by the end of 2011 which had been my goal. I think my new goal will be January 8th as the next day I go on vacation!

My gf mentioned that the end of 2011 is an arbitrary goal and she's right. But there's something nice about being able to say as the ball drops on December 31st, this year I finished my novel. (Or a first draft, but you get my point, right?)

January 8th is arbitrary, too, and I'm still going to have to bust my a**. But that's my new goal, peops!

1100 words today, Vlad met is in-laws and is not thrilled, since the marriage is arranged and he does not want to marry. Didn't get to the marriage part, maybe tomorrow or after T-Day. We'll see.

I haven't been around lately, because I've been too busy finishing the damn book! :D I took this week off from work with the sole purpose of getting 'er done, and ended up writing 5,000 words today to bring it to a conclusion.

Congrats!

And Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Congratulations, Eclipses!! :partyguy::hooray::banana::banana:

Keep at it, Commutinggirl and Tepelus! Awesome that you're doing all that during your commute, Commutinggirl. Who said commuting had to be boring?

LStein, good luck on your goal! If you finish Jan. 8, you can always say you finished your book at the beginning of the new year. :D

I'm tackling my urban fantasy next, and am going to start revisions in a couple of weeks on Lestoor's Chosen. So I'll be going slower on this one. Setting my ending goal for mid-March.

Helloooo everyone!

Looks like a lot of new/different people have joined in the "Finish the Damn Book Challenge" since I've been here...but I'm back, because I'm having trouble and this seemed like a good place to come.

I "finished" my damn book quite a while ago but it's not up to my standards. There was a lot just not working, and I decided to basically rewrite the first third of it. But since making that decision, things have gone downhill. A combination of moving away from home/leaving boyfriend behind for university (stressful!!!!) and general writer's block/discouragement has led to me basically not working on my book for...a number of months. It hurts. I miss it. This story means a lot to me, and as I've been working on it for about 2 years, I really want to get it finished.

I'm not really sure how I would work this into the format of this challenge, since the story's all *there*, but I want to rewrite and change so much of it. Any suggestions? Can I actually even do this? Nothing I do or think of seems to work, it's pretty frustrating, but deep down I'm also pretty determined....sigh.

OK. Finish the damn book.
- I hate my WIP title, but it will have to do for now: Abby's Summer.
- Genre: Mystery
- Words: 23K
- Goal: 75K

1) I have to write 3 sentences each day before I can log onto the Internet.

2) 500 words/day. I have an outline so there's no excuse.

3) THEREFORE: The book will be done in 104 days.

104 days (counting today) minus some time at Christmas means that the Damn Book will be finished on March 15.

OK.

Ok.

Congratulations on the finish.

Welcome (re-welcome) to the new people.

I hit 70k today. I'm not impressed with my writing speed lately. It's NOT 0 words, which is good, but it's nowhere near the 1,000-2,000 words I need to write a day to finish this by the end of December.

I haven't been here FOR EVER.
Last time I was here I wasn't half way through the outlining for my novel.
Today I've passed the 61% mark for my first draft.
I'm going to finish (the first draft of) this dam book this year or BUST.

Thanks guys, it was a good week. I'm already itching to begin outling my next novel.
Welcome (back) Aphrab, Kathleen, and WitchTurtle. Congrats on the word count Tepelus. Joeyc, I've been there before. Are you having trouble with the scenes, or the story altogether? Or is it just a busy time of year?

Well I dunno what's happened now, but instead of having more words, I now have less.
From 35,363 I now have 201 words less than that....

However I did write out postcards for the events I have already written (in pen) and postcards for the events I need to write (in pencil) - but I don't know that it's helped.

There are too many to see all at once.

Congrats, Eclipse. Welcome, new folks.

Fran, fewer words often represents more (and better) work, at least in my experience.

I wrote 720 words on the MG novel yesterday. Today was my birthday, so I took the day off, but I'm hoping to get back at it and finish chapter 11 tomorrow.
