I love cheesecake!

Have you ever made one of those Royal cheesecakes? Cheesecake in a box. My mother used to make those; they were okay. I liked them (especially since I wasn't the one making them).

We have the No Bake cheesecakes on sale at work. I think I'll pick up a few. They taste alright.

Cheesecake for everyone!

Or pound cakes with strawberries.

Or one last lonesome cinnamon roll.

If my daughter didn't text constantly I think she would shrivel up and die. So weird from when I was her age. No, not when dinosaurs walked the earth.

DD #2 used to be terrible about those things. She was afraid to take any chances so she forwarded every one of those damn things.

And this just in from DGD:

My neighbors are riding around in a motorized bathtub. Is that normal?

We live on a planet-sized insane asylum.

I'm so superstitious. I hate getting those things. My rational mind tries to take over and delete them, my foolish, ancient half living near the hipothalmus starts to scream and cry - YOU'RE KILLING US!! FORWARD IT TO TEN PEOPLE!

Half the time I do, half the time I don't.

I never forward those chain emails or texts. I should be dead by now. Or perhaps I've killed others unknowingly. Oh well. 'tis life.

I don't forward those chain things.

I probably would have as a kid... Back when I thought you had to duck when going through a tunnel or raise your feet up when going over railroad tracks when in the car.

*hides face in shame*

It was my sister's doing. She heard about all these superstitions, and got me doing all sorts of silly things. It didn't last long... I guess I'm a natural born sceptic. :tongue

Oh, and the house!

2 families (yes, only 2) came to look at the house. Sounds really bad, but as it happens they both loved the house. 1 of them told the realtor they'd go home and crunch some numbers to see if they could afford this house.

Unfortunately, it's dependent on them first selling their house. And the market is shit right now, down here at least.

I know how long it can take for those "Oh I just have to sell my house first" situations to resolve themselves. Basically, dad's been trying to sell his place (a house and business in one) for about 11 months... They've had plenty of people who were interested, but the banks wouldn't give them the loan because it was classed as a business, not just a home... So they'd have to sell their house FIRST to have the necessary deposit to get the small business loan to buy dad's place.

Nobody's made it that far yet.

Nope. Were you offering to send me one for Christmas? :D

No, I saw one for sale this weekend. It was one of the maple ones; the same style played by the guy from the Byrds. I can't even play a regular guitar well, I can't image playing a 12-string.

This wasn't where I saw the Ric, but you might be interested in this guitar shop:

http://www.gruhn.com/

Supposedly, people like the Rolling Stone and Led Zeppelin and Eric Clapton shop there; I don't know that for sure.

Eh, the guitar I really want is available in my local store. I don't really need to shop around for "famous" ones (and can't afford it anyway).

But I want a Cort EVL-K4, together with a nice Peavey amp package.

Seriously, I checked out a Peavey amp the other day, and it was fucking amazing. It had effects included, and they sounded phenomenal. Much better than my cheap set-up. As in, a whole different ballpark.

The Peavey I saw was $350, down from $400, but the drawback is that it can't port out to a speaker stack. So if I wanted to play on stage with a loud drummer, I'd need to upgrade.

There's one that can plug in to speakers, but it was about double the price... Not that I can afford either right now. Nor do I have space for a big amp, or even a 3rd guitar!

But it's nice to dream. :)

Oh, and the only guitars I've ever played are:

A Zephyr standard. I got a Zephyr package years ago, guitar and amp, for $350 - and they sound how you'd expect them to sound for that price. :( Oh, and the guitar had back-loaded strings, which ALWAYS broke every time I played the damn thing! You shouldn't break 2 strings for every half hour of play! Grr.

Epiphone Les Paul 100. It's the one I currently use. It sounds alright, much better than the Zephyr, but I'm still using the Zephyr amp, so it's not that great at the moment. Fortunately, the strings load in the front, so I break way less strings. Like, I can get about 3 or 4 hours of hard play in before I break a single string. Much better.

The Cort EVL series (the K4 just looks the best out of the ones in the series, at least to my eyes) is actually made for metal musicians, so it'd sound closer to what I want than the Epiphone would, even on the Peavey amp. It also has that special string load thing, whereby it's doubly-strong, so you break fewer strings again. I forget what that load is called...

And then I've also played a random (very cheap) bass guitar... Can't remember which brand, but it was a starter package, so not very great.

The Epiphone and Cort are about the same retail price of $700 or so...

But I bought the Epi second-hand for $350, and the Cort EVL K4 is currently on sale for about $550 brand new.

Just as a guide for prices in Australia. :)

(And with all this guitar rambling, I must announce that I have to leave now. Seeya Funners!)
