I got 5th grade. Hmmmm.

I think the age is more interesting. I got 13-15 year olds which is really great because that's the book's range.

I think it might be a 'lowest common denominator' sort of thing, maybe?

Okay, that makes me feel better.

This thing is brilliant. I had a feeling I was a passive writer as it is, but now I know what I should be looking for to fix that. Before I had a handful of ideas and things to look for but now it's given me an entire basket. :3

My first chapter got a Grade level of 7.2 with 63% understandable readability (13-15) year olds. Not very many complex words, but an abundance of -ly adverbs which makes it wordy. It says there's redundancy and wordy writing but doesn't give examples.

Definitely bookmarking this though and will be using it at the end of the first draft.

I think so. It judges based on average sentence length and average word length from what I can gather. My WIP got a really low grade level because I have a lot of short sentences. I didn't omit the dialogue though, so I'll have to run it again and see what happens.

I'm glad to say my YA novel, which I was worrying about that it may not have the right reading level, fits in the 13-15 yo reading category, just what I was aiming at.

And the grade level is 7th great, so 12-13 year old. Just right for YA.

It certainly seems very useful - thanks. A basic analysis of Partings and Greetings says it should be easily readable for 13-15 year olds, which is ideal as I'm aiming for 14+ in content terms.
