P.S. I noticed this way back when, and I swear, it's coincidence that I noticed it just now! (Read: not stalking)

Good morning. Today we plan to attend the city's best arts and crafts fair, in a charming older neighborhood, but apparently the weather and the forecast are in strong disagreement. The unrelieved heat and sun promised seems to be wind, rain, and thunder. Whether to go as planned, and what to wear?

I guess I'm going to get drenched either from within or without, huh?

Anyway, with several birthdays looming, it's a good opportunity to find something especially nice and fairly unique. We've bought a number of framed photographs and a little original art at this festival over the years.

Good morning, Purgies. Up waaaayy too early (two hours up already). What should have been a quick trip outside for the girls turned into heart-stopping panic. Usually I put them out and they come right back in. But no this morning the dog from in back of me had crossed the fence into my yard. So of course, Chloe, being half its size, did her protection thing. She went after it and I had to yell at her to come back in. Thank heavens she obeys as I wasn't looking forward to getting in the middle of that. I just tried putting them out again about 10 minutes ago, but there were 2 of the dogs from the other yard this time. All this before 7 freaking 30 in the morning is BS.

Now it's almost time to get ready to leave and the girls will need to go on leashes just to go outside before we do. *sigh*

Then it's a long, full day for me. Taking the girls to a shot clinic first thing this morning, then back here for two online events in-game (each several hours worth and I'm committed and an officer, so I can't sneak out of it). And whoosh...there went my day. I just want to go back to sleep. 5 hours simply doesn't cut it.

Hope everyone has an awesome day. I'm sure I'll check in later to see what's what. :)

Hugs and vamp dust, as needed.

Good morning!

I'm behind on responding to things, but (((OL))) so hard to lose them. You'd think it would be easier somehow when they've had a long good life, but it isn't.

Apparently the possum 'pocalypse is upon us. Two nights ago, Blue killed one. Last night one played dead on the back walk convincingly enough that Blue thought he'd killed it (from sheer fright apparently) though then I had to go round up he and Billie so they didn't poke at it all night. Last week he killed a ground squirrel while he was on leash (foolish, foolish ground squirrel). Have I mentioned how much I hate dead things. GAH!

In other news I have a new phone!! Also, a deadline for book 3 that means I need to get a heaping lot of writing done in the next three months. Book 2 is on its way to copy edits (YAY!)

Supposedly our high heat advisory is over, though you wouldn't know it if you went outside. Yesterday it got up to 102, but it wasn't a record so I guess it's all good...

Dragon, aren't there leash laws in your area? Eep.

My cats bring me dead mice and voles occasionally. Sometimes they only leave me the entrails and head of the critters. Yum.

billie, yay for book 2 and good luck with book 3!

The sky this morning was AWESOME. Several layers of dar clouds in increasing shades of gray. Some of them looked like waves, or like sand after the tide goes out. Some looked like explosions of dark feathers. Some looked like one long, undulating sweep of charcoal watercolor. Spectacular! Then we got massive rain and thunder and lightning...

None of which altered the steam room that is Bflo. It's beyond oppressive out there. I borrowed a half-dozen movies from the library because I'm stayin' in today.

We watched Scream and then Scream 4 last night. The reviews that said Scream 4 was as good as Scream... exaggerated.

I've been lurking on the thread for two weeks and now jumping in feels like trying to leap onto a speeding train full of partying (tho interesting) strangers. :partyguy:

I'm going to send out the first three Q's in a couple weeks, and I wanted to come here and get pre-depressed over the inevitable rejections, but you're all so cheerful! Where's the gloom, babies?

Hey to lily, maryn, anyone else I "know" and to the many I don't.

Holy cow, Dragon!

Billie, ick. My tiny dog thinks she’s a badass, but she’s never actually killed anything bigger than a Mayfly. :) YAY for deadlines and new phones! What’d you get?

Hot as hell here again today, but we’re supposed to get a cool down Monday and Tuesday. My poor preggo friend is having her 9 year old’s birthday in their backyard on one of the hottest days of the year.

Lily, but was it pretty OK? I thought about renting it, because I loved the first one, but never have done it.

Hubs and I are rewatching 21 jump st. tonight for in house it’s-too-damned-hot-to-go-out quasi date night (the kids will be in the playroom watching a kid movie. I bought 21 JS this morning — funniest movie I’ve seen in years. We saw it in the theater and I laughed till I almost peed my pants (which, admittedly, is not as hard to do as it was before all the children, but that’s still pretty damned funny).

Hope everyone is having a great Saturday!

ETA: Lorna — :welcome: Notice the bar. We drink, so we don’t fall into the rejection doldrums (as much). Good luck!

Thanks for the help y'all. I am officially sending this query. I have a small press that has expressed interest in the piece ( yes, Sammy it is the same one you read for me-- only now it is a comic script :) ) But I won't feel right about it if I don't at least *try* to send it to a big house. The chances are SUPER SLIM-- Only one major house takes scripts without artwork. If they reject then I either go with the small press or I have to hire an illustrator.

Gonna go write

*waves to lorna* Welcome to the insanery. We have chocolate and booze. For querying I recommend a lot of both.

lwlker, no. An hour into it, we groaned when we realized there was an hour more to go. It tried too hard. It was trying to be so uber-meta that it tripped over itself and the plot notes fell out if its pocket and never got picked up.

We spent the last 2/3 of it arguing the reasons for who we thought were the two killers and why. The movie should've come with a Scream tropes bingo card. If they'd eased up a bit and added a little more humor it wouldn't have been so bad, but we think it was trying to avoid any comparison with the Scary Movie franchise. Although the boys said that one minor character was also in one of the Scary Movies.

The cops were all as Mayberry RFD as Dewey and the tiny town--supposedly current-day--did nothing that any town would do while dealing with a teenage serial killer post-Columbine. Total suspension of disbelief fail, even given that it's a serial killer movie.

I was very glad that I borrowed it from the library and spent nothing. We rented Scream as well, which is as good as we remembered.

Morning all, for a few more minutes anyway. Getting ready to dig into agent man's revision notes on the wip. But first a quick catch up. :)

Maryn - sounds lovely, despite the weather. I really love art shows and craft fairs. Hope you find some great gifts!

Dragonstar - good luck with all your adventures. We get really irritated with off leash dog owners, cause their dog might be fine, but ours has bad fear aggression, and so it's always an issue for us. And we have leash laws, but so many ignore them...

Billie - yuck on the dead things. Yay on the phone!

Lily - we're staying in, too, though both of us in different rooms working. Enjoy your movie spree! Hope the rest are better than S4.

Welcome, lorna! As others have said, don't worry about keeping up. Just jump in when you can. And good luck!

Lwalker - inside date night sounds wonderful - enjoy!

lgwenn - good luck!!

~suki

Update: I didn't realize until I was almost ready to leave that the dog had bitten Chloe. It was still oozing when we got to the vet 4 hours later. He told me how to clean it and keep a close eye on her. It's about 3/8ths inch long and kind of deep. :(

My yard is fenced (as is the neighbor's) and my girls are good about not leaving. The dog behind dug under the fence. My neighbor felt awful. Thank heavens it was the poodle and not the chihuahua, who would have been hurt a lot worse.

I know part of it is Chloe's fault for attacking, but it's her yard and how do you tell a dog not to do what instinct tells them to do?

I'm in a rural area so, leash laws are a bit lax. Chloe is a hunter (birds, bunnies, etc.), as the breeder kept the hunting strain strong. (Yes, she is supposed to be a foo foo poodle. She apparently didn't get the memo.)

*hugs* for the puppeh. At least the other dog's owner isn't an asshat.

The Load came home with a small patch of fur missing from his brow the other night. He's a defend-his-territory cat... until someone makes a loud noise. :tongue

I need a quiet corner to nap in. We are setting up for our event (our guild is hosting) for the server. Helping folks get an item that is very complicated to get to and requires multiple people doing complex stuffs to help. Then I get to raid, since we had to cancel last night. I just want a nap.
