Lovecraftian Language

I'm working on a Lovecraftian mythos story right now, and I'm having a little trouble with the language spoken by the elder gods. It just looks like gibberish in all the stories I've read, but I was wondering if there was actually a set of rules that it follows-- even if it's something simple like leaving out certain letters or using certain other letters more.

Are there any basic rules to follow fo Cthuthlu speak, or am I free to just pound away at my keyboard and use whatever comes up?

Here's the first link that popped up when I googled "Cthulu speak" and "Cthulu language." Not sure how authoritative it is (it is a wiki, after all), but it seems pretty thorough. Might be a good starting point, and I imagine we should have someone on the board who might be versed enough to verify if it's on the right track or provide some more information. Hope this helps some.

I think there are rules because I've definitely noticed patterns. Then again, the patterns could've just been there to further the geometry of madness. Good luck!

If you want to get inspired, there are fonts (okay, so it ain't pretty, but it is better than the really ugly font which used to be kicking around with the square edges)
