Good morning, all. Happy Friday the 13th.
I'm not superstitious. I just happen to be staying indoors today.

Nice brother, Shakes! And thanks all for the kind thoughts re my creepy neighbour. He's just emailed to say he wants to come down to the building and meet me on Sunday so he can 'show me where he thinks the problem is', and I'm trying to think of a polite way of saying 'Hell no'. He wants into my flat and that is seriously creeping me out all the weird ways he's been coming up with to try and get in. It's not like I have treasure in there!

I want to wail. NO writing done this week, some research, but no writing. I'e been reading a deadly dull book and it has made me wonder about the whole concept of a crime noel. In case you are wondering it is Death Comes to Pemberley by P. D. James.

Well, I can understand that some people would loe it - but Baroness James is not a writer of historical fiction and it really shows. Do you know, HJ, if your friend has read any other books by Baroness James and if she has read Austen?
Isn't Christmas the time when families get together, get drunk, argue and fight?
Interesting that she adores Austen and likes BJs book. There seem, to me, to be times when BJs research seriously lets her down. Terminology and the use of some words just do not feel right. More later . . . I'll find examples.

Thanks for the wish MsDashwood. I've done the weekly food shop and recycled bottles. I have the whole weekend in front of me. I am going to put the food away, get lunch sorted and finish reading that book. Must remember to put wine in fridge . . .

Raining here, so no beach. Oh, right, no beach either! Lots of dry forests, though. It's only the second monsoon rain.
Researching/character stuff for next novel. Novel #6, book #8, which would sound impressive if any of them were published. I decided, for the heck of it, and because I don't want to rush into this draft, to assign all my main characters Myers-Briggs types.
I also spent two hours looking more deeply into Scrivener. I'm still not convinced, and I'd be terrified of accidentally deleting files. If you were self-epubbing, though, it would be worth it for the formatting help. Then I looked at OneNote, for twice the price. And at Word 2010. Some part of me is old fashioned and practical and says, "Pshaw. My old version of Word does everything I need, and remember when you typed on a typewriter?" I even remember typing schoolwork pre-liquid-paper, which is a rather traumatic memory, as any oldster could tell you. Erasers. Carbon paper. Counting lines to fit in the footnotes. Ack! now I want wine.

Howdy HJ,
Finally found my way back to the boards. On this Saturday, I've already finished some work on Deadly Showdown, so I'm grabbing the camera bag and setting out shoot the monsoons. They're brewing early today which means we'll probably get the rain we need and have a few picturesque clouds left over for a memorable sunset.
