Please, please don't let it sit anywhere. Don't look at this as absolutes. People look down from every vantage point at others in all walks of life, but this doesn't validate their positions. What works for you; what do you want to do. Do you want to see your work published, despite some loss of marketing machine? Then do it! Find some time (as I have) to do some of your own marketing. Feel the pride of seeing it in print (or e-) and know that people are reading it. Let it out into the light!!I do find it ironic that my vampire book (the one I was told by multiple agents was unsellable) I got a publisher for. On one hand, I could pump myself up to say that wow, I did something an agent couldn't. On the other, it probably means that because I'm working through an extremely small publisher, the agents didn't feel the publisher was worth their time. I'm kind of having a hard time rectifying this.
What I have garnered is that traditional publishing looks down on people who work with small presses or e-pub. That is until one takes off like gangbusters.
But I do think it sucks that there are a lot of industry people who look down on you if you aren't repped by an agent or published by a big publisher.
All of this has come down to my current state of FSD's. I don't know whether to submit my exorcism book out there to small presses and e-pubs, or just to let it sit in a box and rot.
Me either, Caleb. Who knew you and I could agree on a generational issue.Don't worry. I have no clue what it means either.
Love this. Yay Poop!!Yay, Para!
Yay, Phoenix!
Yay, Poop!

Having a kind of yucky few days with Young Blue acting out. Typical teen stuff, but still doesn't make it easier to deal with when it's happening in your own household.
Did I tell you I'm going to Australia next week? Just booked it, so maybe not. It's much easier for me to do it because it's on my sister's staff travel on Qantas and standby is cheap. I also live with the thrill of victory when I get into Business and the agony of defeat when I don't.

It took 8 months which is really long for me, but I'm excited for finishing. So if anyone wants to read a weird, probably unthrilling YA thriller, rep or PM.
