A lot of the other authors and I were chatting about submission calls in the private erotica board, and Maryn asked if we could maybe make a thread where folks can update when they learn about new calls.

So, here it is. However, to keep the thread clean, please only post submission calls or updates, that way folks don't have to scroll through pages of comments on who subbed where.

Thanks for understanding. To start things off, I've listed Riptide's open calls below.

Riptide - Remaking the World 1939 to 1945 (Due February 1st)

We're seeking well-researched historicals set during the Second World War, a time of unprecedented upheaval and change. Maps all over the world were re-drawn, usually by force, and enemies worldwide fought to the death under the waves, on the oceans, on land, and in the air.

But not all conflicts were open or even hot. From the race to crack enemy codes to misleading by trickery and camouflage, the conflicts encompassed the battlefield and well beyond.

This call is focused on the time, the mood, the culture of WWII, but takes no preference for location. We encourage you to explore the less-obvious places and themes, as long as you stay close to the history and spirit of the times. From the Finnish-Russian Winter War to Slim’s campaigns against the Japanese, from German U-Boats to colonial soldiers serving in Africa or any other nation’s home front, tell us stories set between 1939 and 1945.

Length: 35,000 to 100,000+ words
Genres: Historical romance, erotica, or literature. Some paranormal elements or magical realism will be considered, but be prepared to wow us.
Heat Levels: Any
Ending: Any
Orientation: Gay, bi, or trans*
Submissions Due: Friday, February 1, 2013

Riptide - Training Time (Due February 15th)

BDSM is about need, desire, and identity—about doing what feels right and hot and fulfilling. But it’s also about training. For this collection, we’re seeking stories that use a training period in a BDSM relationship as the springboard for a compelling erotic romance.

Show us your experienced Dom training a new-to-the-lifestyle sub, or a Dom training a longtime sub to their own requirements and protocols. Or bring us that rare unicorn of kink fiction: an experienced sub training a new Dom. Or maybe you've written an experienced Dom training an inexperienced one? Is one of your characters fascinated with a potentially dangerous activity (bondage or blood play, for example) and looking to be trained? Or is one of your characters looking for more specific protocol training as a service sub or a pony or a puppy?

No matter the training circumstances, give your characters a happy ending and send their stories our way.

Length: 15,000 to 100,000+ words
Genres: Erotic romance in the following sub-genres: contemporary or historical
Heat Levels: Hot. Kink is by its nature sexual. These stories should be true erotic romance, where the story's tension is worked out through the sexual interactions between the characters.
Ending: HEA or strong HFN
Orientation: Gay, lesbian, bi, trans*, or poly with a strong GLBT element
Submissions Due: Friday, February 15, 2013

Riptide - License to Thrill (Due March 1st)

The glitter of the jet-set. High-speed car, helicopter, and rickshaw chases. Explosions, dirty secrets, and high-stakes casino games. Lone wolves like James Bond and Jason Bourne save the world from international conspiracies and dastardly villains. And let’s not forget the ladies, like Mallory Kane or Evelyn Salt, framed and fighting back.

Show us the ultra-competent operative, spy, soldier, hacker, or double-agent fighting against huge odds for the greater good, for a paycheck—or to clear their names. Show us tough men or women who know their poker, guns, high-performance cars—and are as adept at love as they are at killing. Whether they're seducing an enemy operative or faced with an intriguing outsider who may be clueless about their true nature, allow your agent to fall in lust, or even love—which is the game with the highest stakes of all.

Note: We also welcome thrillers set in historical, fantasy, or sci-fi settings.

Length: 15,000 to 100,000+
Genres: Romantic thrillers in the following sub-genres: contemporary, historical, SF, fantasy, cyber/steam/dieselpunk. Other genres may be considered; please query first.
Heat Levels: Steamy to smokin' hot
Ending: HEA or HFN
Orientation: Any LGBTQ
Submissions Due: Friday, March 1, 2013

Riptide - Regency Romance (Due April 1st)

The Regency period in England abounds in rakes, rogues, cads, and dukes. Their aristocratic privileges put them above the law. Their pursuit of pleasures led them—and those they seduced—astray. There were also unusual families: women raising their husband’s mistress’s children, female companions who were companions in more ways than one.

Despite the need for the utmost discretion, LGBTQ people found each other and lived and loved during this pivotal time in history. Send us their stories.

Length: 25,000 to 120,000 words
Genres: Regency historical romance (1790 to 1820)
Heat Levels: Any
Ending: HEA or strong HFN
Orientation: Gay, lesbian, bi, trans*, full triad ménage
Submissions Due: Monday, April 1, 2013

Riptide - Laying Down (with) the Law (Due May 1st)

To protect and to serve: the oath of law enforcement officers everywhere. For little recognition and less money, they dedicate themselves to our defense. Send us your stories with law enforcement officers of any type as the main characters—police officers, sheriffs and their deputies, FBI and DEA agents, park rangers, RCMP—and show us what they’ve got.
Of course, those LEOs are solving crimes and stopping the bad guys before they can wreak (too much) havoc. So while these intrepid officers fall in love—with each other, with suspects, with victims . . . with the bad guy?—they should also be doing what they do so well: serving, protecting, and solving mysteries.

Length: 25,000 to 120,000 words
Genres: Contemporary romance with an equally strong element of suspense/thriller/mystery. The romance and the suspense/thriller/mystery elements should grow together throughout the progress of the story.
Heat Levels: Any
Ending: HEA or strong HFN
Orientation: Gay, lesbian, bi, trans*, full triad ménage
Submissions Due: Wednesday, May 1, 2013

Riptide - College Discovery (Due June 1st)

College is a time not just to learn a specialty, but for people to learn who they are. Away from home for the first time, in a new and potentially more accepting environment, surrounded by opportunities and temptations never before encountered, those four—five . . . six?—years are a time to meet new people and establish new relationships, a chance to explore gender identity and sexuality.

Send us your stories about college students doing exactly that. Are they coming out about being gay, bi, asexual or pansexual? Are they figuring out that their gender is fluid? Are they finally able to be themselves and love whoever they want? Tell us their stories.

Length: 25,000 to 120,000 words
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult romance in a college/university setting, with a focus on exploring sexuality and/or gender identity.
Heat Levels: Sweet to moderate: no sex, fade to black, euphemistic, or mildly explicit.
Ending: Strong HFN. An HEA is fine, but not required with younger protagonists.
Orientation: Any
Submissions Due: Saturday, June 1, 2013

2013 Daily Dose - A Story a Day in the Month of June

Edited by Lynn West and Shannon Shell

Dreamspinner Press is seeking romantic short stories and novellas containing themes and settings related to sports of any kind. This can be much more than athletes and competitions. We encourage authors to think outside the box.

A retired athlete takes a high school coaching job and hits it off with another teacher. A college student joins the cheer team and gets more than just a tumbling partner. A single father meets another while they watch their sons at T-ball. Two players face off first at a cutthroat chess tournament and later in the bedroom. The owner of a sporting goods store sponsors an athlete in a local competition and becomes his biggest fan. A rookie player goes to a near-retirement veteran for pointers in the game, life, and love. The kid who was always picked last for teams in gym class falls for the reporter interviewing him when he grows up to buy a major sports franchise.

Loose Id

Current Calls

Authors Wanted:

For hot, well-crafted erotic romance at Loose Id.
Loose Id is particularly interested in I/R, LGBT (something with an unusual setting or scenario would be nice) or stories with a setting that really adds to the romance. A focus on erotic romance basics -- intense relationship, romantic arc and HEA -- are required.

I Do…Unless I Don't
Release Date: June 2013

Concept: Weddings and June go together. But does the couple? In this submissions call there has to be a wedding prominently involved in the story and some doubt whether the couple who is planning to marry will actually get married or if they will get married the way they planned. Whether they do or don't is up to you but there must be a romance, lots of erotic heat and a HEA or HFN. Someone is going to end up with the right guy or girl at the end…and maybe even a wedding.

The bridesmaid might finally become the bride, the groom may run off with his best man, the couple who called it off years ago may change their mind again, the wedding planner may have to entirely switch the theme from over the top to an intimate wedding, the rehearsal dinner might poison the guests, the gold digger bride might end up a suspect in her fiance's
murder at the eve of the wedding…it's up to you.

We would like a complete manuscript in by Feb. 15. Novellas (20,001 words) and up are acceptable. You are welcome to consult with your editor beforehand, of course, or, if you have none, with Treva Harte or Christy Lockhart. Turn the ms. in to your editor or, if you have none, to looseid.submissions @ loose-id.com and add I DO SUB CALL in the heading.

(Note-This is for erotic romance, not erotica, but since so many here write both I figured I'd post it anyways)

SPECIAL SUBMISSIONS

CHALLENGE SERIES

Challenge: A test of one's abilities or resources in a demanding but stimulating undertaking.

In every life, there are challenges, boulders in the flowing stream of existence. From the physical, to the psychological or emotional, nobody is immune. No one gets through life intact, but the challenge is not to avoid damage, but to work through, past or around the things that make life so difficult.

We all know people who do this—live fulfilling lives in spite of the difficulties they are forced to deal with.

We want to hear about characters who do just this—and the people who love them. Challenge is a romance series with a twist. The “challenge” must take a central role in the characters’ romance.

1. All challenges should be dealt with respect and dignity.
2. Any challenge should be thoroughly researched for accuracy and realism. We do not want to offend or misinform the reader in any way.
3. While alternative lifestyles are welcome to be part of plots in our books, we will not allow any challenge to be an integral part of a fetish. To be blunt…he can love her if she doesn’t have legs, but not because she doesn’t have legs.
4. We are not accepting any paranormal, sci-fi or other world-building genre at this time. This means no shifters, vampires, aliens, or otherworldly creatures. They’ve got their own set of challenges. We are looking for challenges with humans only.

Length: 10-25k

Heat Level: 1-4. We are open to romances between young adults as well as adults. Books of lower heat levels will also be featured on the Bono Books, sister site of Decadent Publishing.

Manuscript formatting:

Times New Roman 12 point font
1.5 spacing
1-inch margins
NO headers, footers or page numbers
Word doc or rtf format only
Author name and title on first page only

If you have any questions, email: [email protected]

BBW/RUBENESQUE ROMANCE

Big, beautiful women who ROCK their size 12 or 22, who live out loud, love their curves, and enjoy the man (or men!) in their lives.

LENGTH: 5-50k
HEAT LEVEL: Any
SUB-GENRES ACCEPTED: Interracial, multicultural, paranormal, sci-fi, straight contemporary, menage, erotic, sweet romance, suspense, western
TO SUBMIT: Email [email protected] to request a submissions form. Please specify if this is for a series (1Night Stand, Edge, Western Escape, etc.) or a main line book.
QUESTIONS: Email [email protected]

PREPPER ROMANCE

If a disaster struck, would you be prepared?
If you had five minutes to leave your home with everything needed to re-start your life, could you?
If the world ended, would you?

Preppers are a growing and diverse group that some even call a ‘sub-culture’. But most preppers are just average Americans who simply have a plan for self-sufficiency and survival in case a minor or major disaster happens. They have extra food and water on hand and a bag packed in case they need to get away fast. Some convert old missile silos into bunkers in case of global pandemic or nuclear war, but most are more practical and simply learn or apply the basic skills of survival that our grandparents’ generation used in everyday life. Californians have earthquakes, New England and the Gulf coast have hurricanes, the Midwest—tornadoes. Are you prepared?

Decadent Publishing is tapping into that sub-culture to bring you a line of Prepper Romances. They are sexy, fun, sometimes suspenseful , and always entertaining stories with a little bit of ‘prepper’ thrown in for some added flavor.

Stories should contain some details of prepper life, though the main story doesn’t have to be about prepping, it should be about the relationships and circumstances.

LENGTH: 5-50k
HEAT LEVEL: 1-4
SUB-GENRES ACCEPTED: Interracial, contemporary, near futuristic (right after a collapse or disaster), multicultural, western, sweet romance, suspense.
TO SUBMIT: Email [email protected] to request a submissions form. Please note that it is a Prepper Romance when submitting.
QUESTIONS: Email [email protected]

FOODIE ROMANCE

Do you adore the Food Network? Do Bobby Flay and Rocco DiSpirito titillate your senses when they caress a flank steak, whip cream to a sensual cloud, or lay a beautiful table? Does a man's skill in the kitchen impress and delight you as much as the way he kisses?

Then we want you to write a Foodie Romance for Decadent Publishing!

Foodie romance focuses on romance, but food would win the prize for best supporting character. Maybe the heroine is a chef or a food critic, or maybe the hero just appreciates a meal masterfully prepared for maximum enjoyment. Like any art form, the Culinary Arts can be enjoyed as a sensual experience, exciting to the eyes and pleasing to the palate. Whether your taste is gourmet Kobe burgers in Seattle, European pastries in Salzburg, or delicate sushi in Sunagawa, foodie romance is about the culture of cuisine and the people who enjoy it.

LENGTH: 5-50k
HEAT LEVEL: 1-5
SUB-GENRES ACCEPTED: Interracial, contemporary, multicultural, western, sweet romance, suspense, LGBT, ménage, M/M, sci-fi, paranormal
TO SUBMIT: Email [email protected] to request a submissions form. Please note that it is a Foodie Romance when submitting. Also note if it is for a specific series (1Night Stand, Edge, Western Escape, etc.) or a main line submission.

UBUNTU—STORIES OF AFRICAN ROMANCE

Africa... Land of the Serengeti, of wide savannas, where exotic wild animals like giraffes stroll through your backyard— *sound of a screeching turn-disk*

If this is your idea of modern Africa, you’d be way off the mark! Ubuntu (“I am what I am because of who we all are.”) embraces the notion of community, of roots, of spreading your arms open in welcome. Our stories from the Ubuntu line will reflect this philosophy, and take you to Africa to meet the people from that far-away, unknown-to-many land.

Take a peek at modern Africa. This is a world where, on the backdrop of the famine crisis in Darfur and Somalia, of political unrest in countries like the Democratic Republic of Congo and Egypt, millions step into the global village and embrace the fast-paced life offered by technology and the Internet. Multinational companies have offices in many African capitals, opening the way for a slew of expatriates to settle in those countries, where the world’s biggest brand names like Hugo Boss and Lacoste are opening outlets.

Don’t also forget that Africa is not only the black continent – a handful of islands make up the African territory, as well. From minerals-rich Madagascar (and the land of Black Magic, still practiced to this day!) to tourist hot-spots like Mauritius, the Seychelles, and the Maldives – islander culture opens up another world to exploit in your writing. And in the top, northern parts of Africa, meet the Arab world in the countries of the Maghreb (Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, among others).

With its rich history, Africa has native African clans and tribes, colonist white populations – British, French, and Afrikaners –Indian-origin people who emigrated as traders and/or indentured labor, Chinese people who came in as traders.

We want to see your stories set in any of these locations. Whether your characters are expats, foreigners on a visit, native Africans (of black, white, Indian, Chinese, Arab, etc, descent!), show us the true face of Africa as people experience it every day. Think The Joy Luck Club meets Out Of Africa – the former a story of generational conflict between immigrant mothers and their daughters brought up in their adopted country’s culture; the latter a sweeping saga on the backdrop of the African landscape, setting, and context. Give us both; give us either or; but give us something in and/or from Africa.

LENGTH: 5-50k
HEAT LEVEL: 1-5
SUB-GENRES ACCEPTED: Interracial, contemporary, multicultural, sweet romance, suspense, LGBT, ménage
TO SUBMIT: Email [email protected] to request a submissions form. Please note that it is for the UBUNTU line when submitting.

~ONGOING SERIES~

THE EDGE

The Edge is a series of short erotica tales designed to test the limits of our enjoyment of eroticism. For the purpose of this series, erotica is defined as a story with sexual encounters being the primary focus and a believable plot is required.

We encourage you to explore the many ways people find to express themselves—in the bedroom, or out. Due to the short length, we are particularly interested in single scene stories.
Please see the publisher’s submissions guidelines for the very liberal limits of what may be explored. If you have questions, please email us about what is acceptable prior to submission.

LENGTH: 5–7K ~ no exceptions

New Saterotica Line Announces Call For Submissions

Saterotica [sat-ih-rot-i-kuh] (noun) 1) a state of understanding that sex is the greatest practical joke of all time. 2) of or having the ability to laugh with the participants, as opposed to at them. 3) an erotic, humorous story from Musa Publishing

Has an editor ever slapped your fingers for using silly euphemisms instead of anatomical names in your erotic romance? Ever think about what would happen in the menage if the keys fell off the bedside table? Have you wondered if there was a legitimate way to work "queef" into your story? Look no farther--all this and more applies for Saterotica!

Saterotica stories will satirize the erotic romance genre, by either taking a shot at some of our favorite (direly awful) stories from the past, the kind that was hidden in brown paper bags at the back of Mom's closet in 1975, or by taking a standard erotic situation and making it...well, not quite so standard and very funny. Sometimes, the greatest romances are intensified by a strong dose of laughter. Saterotica is not for BAD erotic romance. The plotline must have a legitimate romantic element. The satire comes into play by poking fun on the genre.

But let's keep the humor confined to the genre and situation--no slamming on specific types of people. While we realize that humor is entirely subjective, stories hinging on bigotry, cruelty, and/or prejudice toward a person or group of people will not be accepted for the Saterotica line. Additionally, all standard content restrictions for Musa submissions still apply (no water sports, scat, incest, pedophillia, etc).

We are looking for fully developed stories between 7,000 and 20,000 words. The minimum word count is absolute; the upper word count can bend if the length is justified by the plot. We are looking for both het and gay, menages, BDSM, and any combination thereof. Humorous elements must satirize the erotica genre, using cliches, tropes, and/or incidents that change the intent of the story from titillation to comedy. Please send submissions (query letter, first twenty pages, and one paragraph synopsis) to editor (at) musapublishing.com and include "Saterotica" in the subject line.

Erato is seeking steamy stories for our Tuesday Temptations line. From whirlwind romances to the ultimate dirty weekends, we’re looking for stories 15k and under to steam up our screens and make our staff blush. GLBT erotica and erotic romance may both apply, in all sub-genres. Make it fun, make it sexy, make it great! To submit: follow our regular submission guidelines and be sure to indicate that your story is for Tuesday Temptations.

SPECIAL CALL : Under the Cape

Everybody loves a hero—someone who rides in to save the day because that’s what needs to be done. Some heroes have super powers, and some risk it all on cunning and human talent, but all of them are people we look up to. Whether they’re in movies, TV shows, books, or comic books, heroes are a product of the world that needs them, and the popularity of superhero movies today make it clear that a lot of us are looking for some rescue.

Musa is seeking stories of GLBT heroes and heroines for our Erato imprint. We want to know who your heroes are and what makes them tick. What are they like between missions, who do they love? Do they have families, or have they been left all alone in their tragic origin story? After they fly off into the sunset, they have to go somewhere, so tell us. Tell us about what it really means to be a hero, and show us the person under the cape.

Genres: Romance (sweet through erotic), Action/Adventure
Heat levels: All
Length: 15k+

Special requirements: All stories must feature a GLBT romance in order to qualify for the Erato imprint.

To submit: Send a letter and synopsis in the body of an email to headeditor.erato (at) gmail.com, and attach your complete submission as either a .doc or .rtf .

Any submissions that do not follow these guidelines will be rejected. Make sure to include UNDER THE CAPE in the title of your email, and make sure to submit to the appropriate imprint.

Those are the erotica/romance calls we currently have. We do have a couple of other special calls out there, but those are in the speculative fiction genres.

Storm Moon Press
and Wild Moon Books

Storm Moon Press is a small press specializing in erotic fiction with an emphasis on romance involving QUILTBAG (Queer/Questioning, Intersexed, Lesbian, Trans*, Bisexual, Asexual, Gay) and alternative lifestyle characters and themes. We publish all genres, including fantasy, paranormal, horror, urban fantasy, and science fiction, but submissions must have either a core romantic plot or a reasonable amount of erotic content. Romances must be fully realized, though happy endings are not required. Solid stories with mixed-feelings endings are welcome, as well as the happily-ever-after or happily-for-now. Alternative lifestyles include (but are not limited to) BDSM, ménage à trois, polyamory, and all flavors and variations thereof. If you submit a bisexual romance, the bisexuality must be clearly shown within the course of the story.

We also accept heterosexual romances, QUILTBAG literary fiction, and QUILTBAG young adult fiction through our imprints. Wild Moon Books is their heterosexual erotica and erotic romance imprint.

Anthology Open Calls for 2013 can be found on their page for all of their imprints including Storm Moon Press and Wild Moon.

http://www.stormmoonpress.com/anthologies.aspx

There are a number of them, too many to list. Apologies.

Open Calls: for both imprints: Storm Moon Press (QUILTBAG erotica, erotic romance) and Wild Moon (Heterosexual erotica, erotic romance) Please check the site for submission instructions for their imprints.

Love in the Time of Zombies
Zombies and love stories? Why not? Nothing says Halloween like a good scare—and there's no reason that scare can't be sexy, too.
For Love in the Time of Zombies, we're looking for QUILTBAG love stories set during the zombie apocalypse. From there your imagination is the limit. What camp do your zombies fall into? Do they run or can they do little more than crawl? What happened to them? Is there a virus spread by air or do you need to be bitten to become a zombie? What does it mean for the world that zombies exist? Are people living side-by-side with the zombies like a minor inconvenience or is it the end of the world?
Give us sleep-with-the-lights-on scary, give us laugh-until-you-cry funny, and above all give us love, romance, and steamy erotica. The stories in this line must feature a level of horror (a scare factor), and a romantic or erotic sub-plot. Length must be 20,000 words or higher. Please do not include any actual necrophilia in the submissions.
Deadline for Love in the Time of Zombies is August 15th, 2013 to allow time for selection and editing, as all stories will be released throughout October 2013.

Fireside Seduction
A warm fire burning and a hot beverage in hand—nothing quite says it's holiday time like the crackle of a burning log and the smell of cinnamon and spice. Whether it's a kiss under the mistletoe or a chance meeting at the office holiday party, year-end celebrations often have romance in the air. The holidays can also bring up tension. Families that are barely on speaking terms coming together for the only time each year, old sibling rivalries reignited, and of course the first time you bring a partner home to meet the family.
We're looking for tales of holiday seduction, featuring QUILTBAG characters. Give us your best, most seasonally evocative stories. We want to smell the pine trees as we read. Must haves are a winter or holiday theme, star GLBT characters, erotic and romantic content, and there must be a happy, heart-warming ending. This is all about the good of this season, so keep that in mind. There can be bittersweet notes to the submissions, but those bittersweet notes must be singing joyful hymns by the end. Stories must be between 15,000 and 20,000 words.
Deadline for Fireside Seduction is October 15th, 2013 to allow time for selection and editing, as all stories will be released throughout December 2013.

Current calls:

Call for Submissions: The Flesh Made Word: Erotic Tales About Writing
Edited by Bernie Mojzes

Deadline: March 1, 2013

In the age of communication – where words are cheap, easy, and disposable – it’s easy to forget the sheer physicality of the written word. The inscription, through will and intention, through the press and flow of pen and ink expressing what’s hidden within ourselves upon a surface that is transformed through the process: what is more intimate than that?
The Flesh Made Word is an erotic anthology about the act of writing, and of being written upon. Old typewriters, the tattooist’s pen, the press of fountain-pen nib to flesh. The sensuality of the words themselves, both the sound and the shape of them. The clack of typewriter keys and the shuffle-clank of the printing press. The intersection of the expression of the idea and the physicality of the body. The transformation or transcendence of the flesh through written language.

I am looking for strong, edgy stories that don’t exist merely as an excuse for a great sex scene. Send me stories that take me to surprising places, and stories that don’t flinch.
While this anthology is expected to be primarily comprised of Science Fiction & Fantasy, it is open to (almost) all genres, including Mystery, Adventure, Western, Mainstream and the ever-popular-though-always-misunderstood Slipstream.

More details:
Length: Up to 8000 words.
Response Time: 1 month. Please query if you do not receive an acknowledgement within 3 days.
How to submit:
Send your stories in .doc or .rtf format tosee link for email address. Please don’t send in .docx format, and please use a reasonable font and follow something that looks reasonably like Standard Manuscript Format.

Only email submissions are accepted. Submissions sent to other addresses/other editors at Circlet Press will not be considered. Standard manuscript formatting rules apply even though sending as an attachment (MS Word .doc or .rtf preferred). Please note that this means your name, address, and email contact must appear on the manuscript itself and not simply in your email message. (If you’re not sure what a standard short story submission format should look like, Google is your friend.)

No simultaneous submissions (that is, don’t also send your story elsewhere at the same time, and don’t send it to multiple Circlet editors, either), and no multiple submissions – wait to hear back on the first story before sending a second.

All stories must include explicit sexuality and erotic focus. Romantic content is welcome, but in a short story remember to keep the details on the action and its effects on the main character’s internal point of view. We favor a strong, singular narrative voice (no ‘head hopping’ or swapping between different character’s points of view within a scene). For more details on our editorial preferences, see the general submission guidelines on circlet.com. We highly recommend reading the guidelines, especially the “do not send” list, to increase your chances of sending us something we’ll love. Try to avoid cliches. Fresh and direct language is preferred to overly euphemistic. Sex-positive, please, no rape/nonconsensuality/necrophilia or other purposefully gross topics. We do not publish horror.

Originals only, no reprints. We purchase first rights for inclusion in the ebook anthology for $0.01/word up to $25, with the additional rights to a print edition later for an additional payment of the same amount if a print edition happens. Authors retain the rights to the individual stories; Circlet exercises rights to the anthology as a whole.

Call for Submissions: Wired Hard 5: Yet More Erotica For a Gay Universe
edited by Joy Crelin
Deadline: December 1, 2012 EXTENDED TO FEB 1 2013!

Circlet Press is seeking stories for the fifth installment in the Wired Hard series of anthologies exploring gay male sexuality through the lens of erotic science fiction and fantasy. Whether set in a fantastical past or a dystopian future, a thriving metropolis or a fallen kingdom, a starship or a mythological realm, the world we know or a world we can barely begin to imagine, stories should focus on the desire and passion between two (or maybe more!) male-identified characters.

The first volume of Wired Hard was published in 1994, the year that organizers in Boston canceled its 92-year-old St. Patrick’s Day Parade rather than allow a court-ordered GLBT group to march, the year that the UK reduced the age of consent for gay men to age 18, South Africa finally included homosexuality in its national non-discrimination laws, “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” was new, and the American Medical Association published a statement condemning any claimed “cures” for homosexuality. The best speculative fiction tells us something about our present even while looking into our future, our past, or alternate realities. Now it’s 2012, and although times have changed, homophobia still exists. Don’t Ask Don’t Tell has been repealed, but laws in Uganda have been introduced making homosexuality punishable by death. Many states and countries have passed laws legalizing same-sex marriage while others have banned it. Your story doesn’t have to be overtly political, in fact we’d prefer it not be heavy-handed, but writing about male-male sex and desire is inherently an act of political freedom. Keep the focus on passion and eroticism and let us see your best.

MORE DETAILS ON SUBMITTING:
Length: Our preferred length is approximately 3500 to 7500 words, but we will consider the range from 2000 to 10,000 words.
How to submit: Send plain text, .rtf, or .doc to Joy Crelin at see link for email address

No simultaneous submissions (that is, don’t also send your story elsewhere at the same time, and don’t send it to multiple Circlet editors, either), and no multiple submissions to the same book. One story per author per anthology, thanks.

Submissions Guidelines
[email protected]

We publish Guilty Pleasures (Contemporary), BDSM, Action/Adventure, Paranormal, Sci-Fi, Futuristic, Dark Fantasy, and Urban Fantasy Erotic Romance. All submissions must be targeted for at least one of these genres.
While there should be both highly erotic and romantic elements to the book, relationships and endings should be plot driven. We don't demand your characters trot off to get married at the end of the book, though we do ask for a HEA(Happy Ever After) or, in the case of serials, a HFN(Happy For Now).

We've only got one heat level. Over-the-top hot! We can handle anything you send us as long as it meets our guidelines (Content must be legal for an over 21 audience and geared toward a primarily female readership). We do not accept simultaneous submissions. We do accept multiple submissions.

Length: We accept submissions from 10 to 35 thousand words for single titles. Serials from unsigned authors must be submitted as a completed set.

Royalties: 35% of gross paid monthly -- receive your first check within 60 days of publication. Expect to hear back from us about your submission within six to eight weeks.

What to submit: We accept submissions via email ONLY. If you do not have reliable access to the internet to be able to communicate with us electronically, you do not have the ability to promote your work electronically.

Please include:
* A short cover letter including your publishing history, if any, a short blurb and plot summary of no more than 500 words, including genres and themes you're targeting for this book, and whether it's a single title or a series/serial.
* Your COMPLETE manuscript, as an rtf (Rich Text File) or txt (Text) file attachment. Every word processing program has the ability to save as Rich Text or Text. Please do not send DOCX files. That's it for formatting. Use whatever fonts and spacing you prefer. We're going to work from a text file and reform to suit our own guidelines, anyway. We have a format macro. :)
* A brief promotional plan, including links to your website, blog, journal, etc., and loops and chat sites where you plan to promote, should we accept your work for publication. An author's ability to promote is critical to the success of any book's sales. You will also be expected to promote your book through active participation in the Changeling Readers' loop, the Changeling Insider, our online E-Zine, The Cheeky Changeling, The Changeling Blog, our Facebook page, and other regularly-scheduled promotions.

Can't Get Enough
Editor: Tenille Brown
Deadline: February 15, 2013 (earlier submissions preferred and encouraged)
Word Count: 1,500-3,000
Payment: $50 and 2 copies of the anthology upon publication
Publication Date: TBA

Tenille Brown is currently seeking submissions for her upcoming anthology, tentatively titled Can't Get Enough.

Have you ever been so hot for your lover that you decided not to go to the dinner you were invited to? Or maybe you got so turned on watching her work the room at a party you had to duck into a coat closet during cocktails. Remember the time you called in sick to work because you simply couldn't put down your vibrator?

Can't Get Enough will contain just these types of stories. An anthology filled with tales of insatiable desire, authors will bring forth stories brimming with sex, kinks and fetishes that you simply can't get enough of, sex you want so much that you can't make it home without having to swing by a shady motel or pull off into a vacant lot.

What I'm looking for:

I want well-written, collar clutching stories that embody and drive home the theme "can't get enough." I want stories that are smart, sassy, sexy, risqué and downright kinky. In this anthology I want to see it all, a variety of ages, cultures, pairings and voices. I am open to submissions from people of all genders.

Send me stories that are jaw dropping and written outside of the box. Give me characters who are soft and passionate, but don't leave out those who are rough and dark. Above all, give me well-drawn characters who want it so bad and so much that they've got to have it in different places, in different positions and at every turn.

Whether your character ambushes her husband at the office, or he explores the clubs looking for a piece of strange, show me that they need it, have to have it, and can't get enough.

The standard rules apply: no incest, rape, underage characters or bestiality.

Original stories are preferred, but I may consider reprints. No simultaneous submissions.

Please make sure submissions include your name (legal and pen), mailing address, phone number and email address in the top left corner of the page. Send it as a Word attachment to enoughantho @ gmail .com with Can't Get Enough (Story Title) in the subject line. Include a 50-word bio with your submission. You will receive an email acknowledgement of receipt within 72 hours.

Additionally:please fully read and follow the submission guidelines. Make sure your submission is formatted properly using double spaces and Times New Roman or Georgia, 12 pt. font. Don't put any extra spaces between paragraphs and make sure each paragraph is indented. Use quotation marks in dialogue.

When emailing your submission, please include the title of your story in the subject line. Ex. Can't Get Enough Submission (Twinkle Toes) .

Make sure you meet the minimum word count (1,500) and don't exceed the maximum word count (3,000). You may send up to (2) stories to be considered.

COWBOY HEAT
Editor: Delilah Devlin
Deadline: March 1, 2013
Payment: $50.00 USD and two copies of the published book
COWBOY HEAT is open to all authors.

Editor/Author Delilah Devlin is looking for hetero cowboy stories for a romantic erotica anthology tentatively entitled COWBOY HEAT.

Following the success of COWBOY LUST, Delilah's ready to construct the next delectable anthology of cowboy heroes. They may ride into the sunset, but cowboys never go out of style. They embody the fiercely independent, earthy alpha male and a hero who isn't afraid to show the gentle, nurturing side of his complex nature when he's faced with a woman or an animal in need.

Even when he's coated with dust from riding behind a herd of cattle, or up to his knees in mud freeing a calf from a wallow, his image doesn't tarnish. A woman's imagination sparks, filling in the details*the scent of horse, cow, and crisp, clean sweat; the sight of sun-leathered skin and crows feet; the feel of work-hardened thighs and arms; and the sound of a deep-voiced, drawl.

COWBOY HEAT will seek stories that satisfy the reader who craves the romantic idea of that gruff, capable man while exploring stories set in the American West with a few exotic International settings thrown in for fun! The stories will be primarily contemporary with the possibility of a few historical Westerns. While traditional themes will be featured, writers are encouraged to dream big to create tales that surprise.

Be sure to check the descriptions of stories already featured in the previous volume, COWBOY LUST. Delilah doesn't want repeats. She's seeking unique stories from authors with unique voices, and above all, she's looking to be seduced by tales filled with vivid imagery and passion.

Published authors with an established Western world may use that setting for their original short story.
This is erotic romance, so don't hold back on the heat. Stories can be vanilla or filled with kink, but don't miss describing the connection between two strong-willed individuals learning to trust and love one another. A deep sensuality should linger in every word. And just think about the sexy possibilities of a cowboy's accoutrements. They have to know their wicked way around ropes, buckles and spurs. Not to mention how sexy one might look in just his chaps...

Exotic locations and scenarios are welcome. Keep in mind there must be a romantic element with a happy-for-now or happy-ever-after ending. Strong plots, engaging characters, and unique twists are the ultimate goal. Please no reprints. We are seeking original stories.

How to submit: Prepare your 1,500 to 4,500 words story in a double-spaced, Arial, 12 point, black font Word document with pages numbered (.doc, NOT.docx) OR rich text format. Indent the first line of each paragraph half an inch and double space (regular double spacing, do not add extra lines between paragraphs or do any other irregular spacing). US grammar (double quotation marks around dialogue, etc.) is required.

In your document at the top left of the page, include your legal name (and pseudonym, if applicable), mailing address, and 50 words or less bio in the third person and send to cleiscowboyheat @ gmail .com. If you are using a pseudonym, please provide your real name and pseudonym and make it clear which one you'd like to be credited as. Authors may submit up to 2 stories. Delilah will respond in July 2013. The publisher has final approval over the stories included in the manuscript.

Payment will be $50.00 USD and two copies of the published book upon publication.

The Darker Edge of Desire
Editor: Mitzi Szereto
Deadline: March 15, 2013
Payment: In the range of USD $50-70 (payable on publication) and 2 copies of the anthology

A trade paperback to be published by Cleis Press, USA
Publication date: Autumn 2013

Gothic literature has always possessed a dark attraction ripe with the promise of the forbidden and the sensual. This theme has been successfully explored in my anthology Red Velvet and Absinthe, but with a far gentler touch. In The Darker Edge of Desire, I will take the sexualized Gothic and ratchet it up a few notches into the danger zone, opening the door into the darker side of lust and love that only the courageous dare to venture through.

I am looking for atmospheric and high quality stories with a distinct Gothic flavour that explore our more forbidden desires and contain plenty of added kink. In these tales love and lust know no boundaries, and all nature of being*from vampires, werewolves, shape shifters, ghosts, succubae and creatures we may not even have heard of*can be found. Think Red Velvet and Absinthe, but with some very sharp edges!

Submission deadline:
March 15, 2013
(I'll be selecting stories on a rolling basis, therefore earlier submissions are strongly encouraged, though I'll still consider stories that make it in by the deadline).

Word count:
3,000 to 6,500

What I'm looking for:
Well-developed story lines and well-crafted prose told in a unique voice and containing interesting characters and settings. Stories may be set in the past, present, or future. Stories from female and male writers are welcome, as are those written from the POV of characters of any gender and containing characters of any sexual orientation.
Note that sexually explicit content is acceptable as well as a more subtle approach; however, absolutely no stock sex scenes or formulaic writing/terminology. Please refer to my previous anthologies to get an idea of the variety and style of content I look for. No excessive gore or violence. No reprints.

Payment:
One-time payment in the range of USD $50-70 (payable on publication) and 2 copies of the anthology.
Submission requirements:
Stories should be formatted as follows: double-spaced Arial 12-point black font Word or RTF document. Indent the first line of each paragraph by half an inch. Do not add extra lines between paragraphs or any other irregular spacing. American spelling and punctuation only (i.e. quote marks, etc.). Include your legal name (and pseudonym if applicable), postal address, and a fifty-word maximum author bio written in the third person. Contract is for one-time, non-exclusive anthology rights with one year's exclusivity from date of publication. (This may be waived if your story is selected for a "Best Of" collection). No simultaneous submissions please.
In the subject line of your email, please state: The Darker Edge of Desire
Send to: submissions @ mitziszereto .com

Love, Lust and Zombies
Editor: Mitzi Szereto
Deadline: Feb 10, 2013 (early subs are strongly encouraged)
Payment: In the range of USD $50-70 (payable on publication) and 2 copies of the anthology

A trade paperback to be published by Cleis Press, USA

Publication date: Autumn 2013

Let’s face it: zombies are hot, and baby, they’re getting hotter. Although not the most traditional of sex symbols, zombies are truly coming into their own, even landing on the silver screen in romantic roles, not to mention ambling and shambling across the pages of novels and television screens. Gone are those one-dimensional gut-munching characters from George Romero’s grim and gruesome flick Night of the Living Dead. Zombies now have a lot more to offer, and thank heavens we non-zombies are finally beginning to recognise this.

From the best-selling novel Pride and Prejudice and Zombies to the hit TV series The Walking Dead, zombies are infiltrating and enriching our daily lives. So isn’t it about time they had their more...err...romantic and sexy sides showcased? It’s my goal as editor of Love, Lust and Zombies to help make this happen. And here’s how you can help.

I want you to write some fun and steamy stories featuring sexy zombie characters and send them over for me to chew on (in a literary sense, that is). Can zombies be sexy? Why the hell not? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, after all. So can you do it without grossing us out too much or being too gory? Sure you can. And you know you want to!

Word count:3,000 to 6,500

What I’m looking for:Well-developed story lines and well-crafted prose told in a unique voice and containing interesting characters and settings. Stories may be set in the past, present, or future. Stories from female and male writers are welcome, as are those written from the POV of characters of any gender and containing characters of any sexual orientation.

Slave Girls: Erotic Stories of Submission
Editor: D. L. King
Deadline: January 15, 2013
Payment: $50 plus 2 copies of the anthology

D. L. King is looking for Master/Slave erotica that will turn her into a mass of quivering flesh.

Let me warn you: I'm a dominant woman. It will take real work to make me go all gooey from stories of female submission, but you can do it. I know you can do it because I've read fem sub stories that have really turned me on.

But to do that, they've got to be well written and smart. The girl can't be a doormat or a cipher; she's got to be just as smart as the story. And the dom can't be an alpha male wannabe or clone; he's got to be real; flaws and all. He can be a sadist or he can be kind, but he's got to care about his slave. And don't forget the girl; she's got to know who she is and what she wants (or learn that in the course of the story) and go after it. And what she gets has to be hot. You know me; I'm going to need to feel her pain - and her pleasure. Her need to submit or to serve has to turn me on as much as it does her master. And, by the way, I'm going to need to feel his pleasure, too.

The majority of these stories will be male dominant/female submissive, but I won't say no to a few female/female stories, as well. The characters must connect but please remember that this is an anthology of erotica, not erotic romance. I am not interested in stories of humiliation. I am interested in stories of sex and pleasure and pain - and need.

Stories should be between 2,000 and 3,500 words, double-spaced, 12 pt Times New Roman. Please indent the first line of each paragraph one-half inch and do not include extra lines between paragraphs. No fancy fonts, no weird sizes, no bizarre formatting, no strange colors, please. Do not put a cover sheet on your story.

Send your story as a .doc (NOT a .docx. You can assure this by saving your story as a Word 97-2003 document.) attachment and include the title, pseudonym (if applicable) and your legal name and mailing address to slaveantho @ gmail .com. The subject line should read: Submission: TITLE. Please include a professional bio of 50 words or less. Direct any questions to the same address. Original stories only. (If you are absolutely unable to send a .doc attachment, I will accept an rtf-but I won't be happy about it.)

BDSM Anthology(ies) (As Yet Untitled)

Due March 1st (I believe this is for 2013. If not, I'll remove it)

Depending on how many stories I accept, this anthology may come out in volumes, as many as needed to get the smutty, romantic goodness to the masses. Here's what I want: BDSM stories of any flavor from uber-kink (keeping the rules of publisher in mind regarding scat, rape, etc) to light vanilla, first-time play. Anywhere from your most Dom males to femdom to menage to an orgy, if you can pull it off and are so inclined. Even bondage out of this world on some foreign planet. Or a world of your own creation where BDSM rules the land ala The Sleeping Beauty series. Any sub-genre, mystery, paranormal, contemp, etc. I want intelligent, hot, tension filled erotic romance or erotica with a HFN or HEA ending. So long as you keep me reading every word from the first page, whether it hurts so good or tickles like a feather is all up to you.

Caveats:
No M/M pairings :(

Submissions must be 15-20k in length
Steamy to burning the page stories wanted, nothing behind closed doors here
Submissions must be formatted in SCP House Style upon submission Click Here for Guidelines

Usual no-no's apply regarding rape, bestiality, scat, necrophilia, etc.

Send all submissions to faithsommerseditor @ gmail .com

Carina Press
2013 Holiday collections: These are Open Calls for 2013
and will be returning to by invitation only in 2014.
All novellas are due by March 1, 2013

2103 Contemporary Romance collection
Carina is looking for m/f contemporary romance novellas with a winter holiday theme, to be published digitally both individually and as a collection in December 2013. The novellas should be from 18,000 to 35,000 words and feature holiday elements as integral to the contemporary novella. The stories must be m/f romance, but cannot be erotic romance (that’s a separate collection, see below). However, the stories can range from sweet to sexy, as long as they aren’t erotic. Novellas with any theme of a winter holiday (it does not need to be a Christian holiday) will be accepted.
The contemporary romance holiday collection will be edited by Angela James and supported by a marketing and promotion campaign both online and in print. In addition, each author chosen to contribute to the anthology will receive a set number of limited-edition print copies for their own use in giveaways and contests (or to decorate their own bookshelves).

To submit, please send your completed manuscript and synopsis, along with query letter to submissions @ carinapress .com by March 1st, 2013. In the subject line, please put Contemporary Holiday: Manuscript Title and Author

2013 Erotic Romance collection
Carina is looking for erotic romance novellas with a winter holiday theme, to be published digitally both individually and as a collection in December 2013. The novellas should be from 18,000 to 35,000 words and feature holiday elements as integral to the erotic romance novella. The stories can be of any romance subgenre (paranormal, contemporary, historical, science fiction, etc) and can be m/m, m/f or any combinations thereof. They must be erotic (in the “this novella should come with a melting panties warning label” variety). Novellas with any theme of a winter holiday (it does not need to be a Christian holiday) will be accepted.

The erotic romance holiday collection will be edited by Angela James and supported by a marketing and promotion campaign both online and in print.

In the subject line, please put Erotic Holiday: Manuscript Title and Author

2013 themed collection: Harleys and Holidays
Carina is looking for romance novellas with a combined winter holiday and motorcycle theme (despite the name I used, it doesn’t have to be Harleys), to be published digitally both individually and as a collection in December 2013. The novellas should be from 18,000 to 35,000 words and feature holiday elements as integral to the romance novella. The stories can be of any romance subgenre though I expect many will be contemporary and none will be historical
icon_wink.gif
and can be m/m, m/f or any combinations thereof, and can range from sweet to erotic. Novellas with any theme of a winter holiday (it does not need to be a Christian holiday) will be accepted. How will motorcycles play a theme in your novella? Your imagination is the only limit. Motorcycle clubs doing Toys for Tots drive and romance ensuing, the town’s bad boy coming home, or a sassy heroine finding freedom on the road.

This romance holiday collection will be edited by Angela James and supported by a marketing and promotion campaign both online and in print.

In the subject line, please put Harley Holiday: Manuscript Title and Author

2013 themed collection: Military men and women, Home for the Holidays
Carina is looking for romance novellas with a combined winter holiday and military troops returning home for the holidays theme, to be published digitally both individually and as a collection in December 2013. The novellas should be from 18,000 to 35,000 words and feature holiday elements as integral to the romance novella. The stories can be of any romance subgenre (paranormal, contemporary, historical, science fiction, etc) and can be m/m, m/f or any combinations thereof, and can range from sweet to erotic. Novellas with any theme of a winter holiday (it does not need to be a Christian holiday) will be accepted. We’re looking for holiday novellas that have a military/Navy SEAL/Air Force/etc theme, with deployed soldiers coming home and finding love, rediscovering love, etc. Any time period or military branch is welcome (including those you make up for a futuristic or sci fi!), but all should centered around coming home during the holidays.

This romance holiday collection will be edited by Angela James and supported by a marketing and promotion campaign both online and in print.

In the subject line, please put Military Holiday: Manuscript Title and Author

Further details
All submissions will be reviewed and final decision made by April 1st, 2013. Please read the updated submissions guidelines prior to submitting.

For questions about this call for submissions, please email Angela James at [email protected]. I will be the editor on all four collections.

Please note: because these are very specific calls for submissions, and we must wait for the submissions deadline to read all submissions and before making a final decision, if you choose to submit these simultaneously somewhere else, we will not be able to give you a decision before the deadline. We prefer that you do not submit these simultaneously to other publishers, but instead wait for a response. However, we know this is not always possible, so should you choose to submit elsewhere, and receive a contract, we ask that you email us and withdraw your submission promptly from consideration, to save us time. Thank you!

MIXED TAPE - an anthology based on love songs
Okay, be honest...how many made one? Had one given to them? What? You don't know what I'm talking about? Way back when, when you needed to tell that special someone how you felt instead of writing a note you put together a compilation cassette tape of MUSIC. Songs that reminded you of that special someone, songs that told them how you felt so you didn't have to say it to their face (just in case they didn't feel the same). I'm putting together a MIXED TAPE of stories inspired by love songs (especially from the 1980s). So break out those cassette tapes, acid wash jeans and neon colors.

Stories will:
Range between 5 and 40k
Be inspired by a love song that plays a part in the story (some suggestions: Air Supply, Chicago, REO Speedwagon, Duran Duran, to name just a few) Flashbacks, paranormal, contemporary, historical (okay, is the 1980s really historical?) all welcome
Must abide by MLR submission guidelines
Please email Kris if you are interested with what song you intend to use to avoid authors using the same song

Stories due by March 15, 2013 to special_submissions @ mlrpress .com
Questions should be sent to Kris Jacen at KrisJacen @ mlrpress .com

Less Than Three Press
M/M romance and erotic romance

If You’re Reading This serial anthology
A message in a bottle, a forgotten letter in a desk, a postcard delivered to an old address. A cry for help, a confession of love, an ominous threat. Words from the past, or perhaps the here and now, or even the future. Less Than Three Press is seeking stories about what happens when someone chances upon a message cast adrift and left to be guided by fate or chance. From the classic message in the bottle washed up on a sandy beach to whatever the imagination spins, tell us your tales of what happens when that message is at last found and read …

THE DETAILS:

  • Deadline is FEBRUARY 28, 2013 11:59 EST (GMT -5) (give or take, we won’t kill you for sending it off the following morning).
  • Stories should be at least 10,000 words. Anything less is too short to run as a serial, as we post them in 5,000 word sections. They should not exceed approx 50,000 words in length, as we do not like a single story to run for too long.
  • Stories must be m/m or f/f romance (threesomes, etc. are acceptable, but all parties must be the same gender).
  • Stories must have a happily ever after (HEA) or happy for now (HFN) end.
  • All usual LT3 submission guidelines apply.
This collection is centered around the theme of ‘messages cast adrift’. All stories must have a strong tie to this theme. Any sub-genre is gladly accepted: sci-fi, mystery, contemporary, steampunk, etc.

If You’re Reading This … will run as one of LT3′s serial anthologies. Stories will run one by one on a biweekly basis, to be compiled into a single anthology at the end of the series. Current examples of serial anthologies are Bad Moon Rising and Something Happened on the Way to Heaven. They’re an extremely popular aspect of our serial stories, as readers like the shorter stories mixed in with some of our longer running works.

Payment will be $200 on acceptance of the story and 5% of gross subscription sales while your story is in the serial rotation. Authors will receive one copy each of the ebook formats LT3 produces and two copies of the paperback compilation.

Stories should be complete before submitting, and as edited as possible. They can be submitted in any format (doc, docx, rtf, odt, etc), preferably single spaced with a space between paragraphs, in an easy to read font (Times, Calibri, Arial) with no special formatting (no elaborate section separation, special fonts, etc). Additional formatting guidelines can be found here.

Any questions/concerns should be directed to the Editor in Chief, Samantha M. Derr, at derrs @ lessthanthreepress .com (or you can ping her on twitter @ rykaine).

Proud to Be a Vampire ebook collection
Predators do not waste time feeling sorry for the prey. They do not bemoan their hunter nature and pretend they have something in common with those they are meant to hunt. True predators find pleasure in the hunt and satisfaction in the kill. Never are those words truer than with the vampires: they threw away their humanity and defeated even death to become the ultimate predator and hunt with relish the prey they used to be …

Less Than Three Press is seeking stories of vampires who take pride in their nature and thrive on the hunt. This is no collection for stories of whiny vampires who pretend they are still human and fight the call of their inhuman nature. We want stories of vampires who love what they are.

THE DETAILS:

  • Deadline is APRIL 30, 2013 11:59 EST (GMT -5) (give or take, we won’t kill you for sending it off the following morning).
  • Stories should be at least 15,000 words and should not exceed approx 50,000 words in length.
  • Stories must be m/m or f/f romance (threesomes, etc. are acceptable, but all parties must be the same gender).
  • Stories must have a happily ever after (HEA) or happy for now (HFN) end.
  • Any sub-genre is gladly accepted: sci-fi, mystery, contemporary, steampunk, etc.
  • All usual LT3 submission guidelines apply.
Proud to be a Vampire is a collection of ebooks, meaning each story will be sold as an individual ebook, and readers will also have the option to purchase “bundles” or the entire collection for a reduced rate.

This collection is about vampires who enjoy being vampires. All stories must have a strong tie to this theme. We are looking for creative stories featuring vampires who do not spend of the book whining, sulking, bitching, and crying about the fact they are vampires.

Standard ebook royalties will apply.

New, very interesting, anthology call

Shakespearotica: Queering the Bard
Genres: Any
Theme: General
Pairings: Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Trans*
Submission Deadline: April 1, 2013
Expected Release: September 10, 2013
HEA or HFN Ending Required? No

The queer pleasures of Shakespeare are legion, from bawdy romance between cross-dressed lovers to raging jealousy that reaches beyond any simple classification of desire. Salome Wilde seeks titillating tales adapted from Shakespeare's plays and memorable characters. Writers may stick close to the original text to highlight queerness that's already part of the play when enjoyed from a queer perspective or rework the drama to their heart's queerest delight. Modern updates and behind-the-scenes tales of cast and crew are also most welcome. Like the Bard's, your tale may be humorous or serious, end in happily-ever-after or terrible tragedy—just take us through the queerly erotic en route.

The collection will take its definition of "queer" from Alexander Doty in Making Things Perfectly Queer. Stories may include LGBT and heterosexual elements, but like Doty, I seek "those uses of 'queer' that make it more than just an umbrella term in the ways that 'homosexual' and 'gay' have been used to mean lesbian or gay or bisexual, because queerness can also be about the intersecting or combining of more than one specific form of nonstraight sexuality." If your Shakespearotica tale "evokes complex, often uncategorizable, erotic responses from [readers] who claim all sorts of real-life sexual identities," it's what this collection seeks.

Stories must be between 4,000 and 8,000 words and bear some noticeable resemblance to one of Shakespeare's works. (If using a more obscure play, please include that information in the submission.) Payment for this anthology will be a flat $50, and there will be no single release contract attached to acceptance.

Huddle: Sex With Sporty Queers

Editor: Angela Tavares
Deadline: April 30, 2013
Payment & rights: $25 per story; first international electronic rights
Jocks. Sure, you may have hated them back in high school, especially if you were queer, and that’s okay. But think back. Did you not find yourself admiring them from afar: that sinew of muscle in their calves or stomachs, the way they embraced a good sweat, their fists in the air after they contributed to a hometown win? Or maybe you were a jock, and if this is the case, you know exactly what can happen in those locker rooms, on those long bus rides to a hotel three states away, or at a bar when you run into members of the team you’re playing tomorrow in the big game.
Love them or hate them, jocks are…oh…they’re hot, and the editors of Go Deeper Press are looking for exciting, inventive, erotic stories for our fiction anthology “Huddle: Sex With Sporty Queers.” “Huddle” will be edited by Angela Tavares (rubthis.blogspot.com).
The deadline is April 30, 2013 (midnight EST).
Fictional stories only, please. We buy first international electronic rights. Authors will be paid $25 per story, but as Go Deeper Press grows in size, our listed authors will receive rises and royalties. We’re after stories from 1,500 to 4,000 words.
Please submit your story in a double-spaced Microsoft Word document, using a 12-point serif font, such as Georgia or Times New Roman. One inch margins, please. If you are using a pen name, include both your real name and pen name in your email cover letter and on the manuscript itself. Please also include a list of previous publications. If you are a new writer, let us know that you are committed to editing your work.
Finally, please submit your polished story, with the anthology name in the subject line, to submissions @godeeperpress .com

Shameless Behavior: Erotic Stories of Overcoming Shame

Editor: Lana Fox
Deadline: April 30, 2013
Payment & rights: $25 per story; first worldwide digital rights
The editors of Go Deeper Press are looking for erotic, fictional stories in which the central character recovers—or starts to recover—from sexual shame. Perhaps your protagonist longs to cross-dress, but has always been ashamed in the past. Or maybe they hate undressing because they loathe their body shape/type/size. Whatever their transformation, it needs to be a powerful one that turns us on—they begin their journey ashamed and end feeling liberated.
We believe we have a unique opportunity here, as activists, to show the world that recovery from sexual shame is both positive and hot.
Stories of coming to terms with a sexual and/or gender identity are particularly desirable, as are those of breaking free of societal restraints. We also warmly welcome all sexual and gender identities, in terms of both characters and contributors.
Authors will be paid $25 per story—but as Go Deeper Press grows in size, our listed authors will receive rises and royalties. We’re after stories from 1,500 to 4,000 words. We buy first worldwide digital rights. No reprints, please.

Dirty Little Numbers

Editor: Lana Fox
Deadline: May 30th, 2013
Payment & rights: 1 cent per word; first worldwide electronic rights
The Editors of Go Deeper Press are looking for original, erotic stories of less than 500 words. These microfictions need to rev our sexual motors swiftly and profoundly. Stories in which characters climax are particularly welcomed (but by no means mandatory) and we’re also seeking characters of all different sexual and gender identities. We’re interested in dark takes as well as light. And of course, we love deep, in every sense of the word.
Authors will be paid 1 cent per word—but as Go Deeper Press grows in size, our listed authors will receive rises and royalties. We buy first worldwide digital rights. No reprints, please.

Amber Allure 2 New Open calls

Gay (M/M) Regency Submissions

Submission Type: Gay (M/M) Stories - Historical / Regency Romance

Length: 11,000 - 17,999 words (Extended Amber Kiss), 18,000 - 39,999 words (Novella), or 40,000 words - 165,000 words (Novel)

Heat Level: Although we publish stories that fall into all Heat Level Rating categories, please note that we prefer stories with the highest Heat Level Rating of 3+ (Love scenes should be extremely explicit and contain graphic language. Stories may also contain sexual situations or storylines that push the envelope—heavy bondage, spanking, as well as ménage, domination and submission, multiple sexual partners, etc.).

Note regarding sexual content: Although subplots featuring hetero (M/F) or ménage (M/M/F, M/F/M, etc.) pairings may be acceptable for secondary characters, they should not take up more than a small percentage of the overall story. The heroes (the main focus of each submission) must be strictly gay and not bisexual—they should have no sexual desire for females. For storyline purposes, your heroes may have a history of heterosexual or bisexual activity, but generally, they are now either fully out of the closet or will be fully out before the story concludes. Your heroes, however, may participate in gay ménage (M/M/M) or all-male group sex. Again, all "female" involvement within the story should be kept to a minimum, and when it comes to your heroes, all sexual content should be M/M only.

Specific Guidelines: Stories classified as "Historical/Regency Romance" will be considered for publication within this series. Imagine a classic romance of the "Jane Austin" variety, only with male characters, and you will have a good grasp of the types of stories we are seeking. In other words, tales should include all the trademarks of a traditional "Regency Romance" but be, of course, purely M/M romance with no Heterosexual content. Moreover, all stories should have a "happily ever after" ending, or at least what is considered a "happily for now" conclusion. If the story being submitted is part of a planned series of books, that is also acceptable, but please send only the first book within the series (also see next paragraph).

Important notes: Amber Allure will not consider any previously published stories, therefore each novella or novel should include only new material. Additionally, the submission should not be part of a series published at another house. Only completed manuscripts will be accepted for consideration. Please also include a detailed synopsis of the manuscript as well as a query letter. And finally, no simultaneous submissions please.

Deadline for Submissions: June 1, 2013

Email Address: After preparing your documents according to the "Overall Submission/Formatting Info" listed above, please submit the full manuscript, synopsis, and query letter to:
[email protected]

Gay (M/M) Gothic Submissions

Submission Type: Gay (M/M) Stories - Gothic Romance

Length: 11,000 - 17,999 words (Extended Amber Kiss), 18,000 - 39,999 words (Novella), or 40,000 words - 165,000 words (Novel)

Specific Guidelines: Stories of "Gothic Romance" or "Gothic Horror/Suspense Romance" will be considered for publication within this series. Imagine stories of a Charlotte Bronte variety mixed with Stephen King, with perhaps a touch of Bram Stoker tossed in for good measure, only with only male romances, and you will get an idea of the types of stories we are looking to include in this series. But also please note, that tales should include a "happily ever after" ending, or at least what is considered a "happily for now" conclusion. If the story being submitted is part of a planned series of books, that is also acceptable, but please send only the first book within the series (also see next paragraph).
