A publisher or agency using Google ads to solicit your novel probably isn't anyone you want to write for.

Alternate Reality Games

I love alternate reality games, am I the only one?

Alternate reality games are situations that present themselves in media other than data. Things like letters, videos, newspaper clippings, and whatnot are used instead to give the illusion that whatever is happening is very much real and there is real risk involved.

Does anyone else play/create ARG's? Does anyone know any famous ARG's?

There are few that are marketed as such, but this sort of thing can be integrated into nearly any game, if you're creative enough as a referee/Game Master.

I've done stuff like that for wargames, and for RPGs many times in the past, and will continue to do so.

I employ sound clips, newspaper articles, "intelligence briefs", "Presidential addresses" (voiced by yours truly), etc.

Yes, it does add a certain authenticity to gaming - and sometimes added tension.
