Following on from miles' thread about clichéd ideas and after reading the comments on Nathan Brasnford's post, I got to thinking about ideas and how people come up with them.
I wasn't sure at first whether I was capable of coming up with plenty of ideas for romantic novels. Then I read Lit Agent X's post and what she said about coming up with ideas (stories) all the time hit home with me. So I started to play around with hooks. Some of them suck, some of them are done to death and some, well some are ideas that I'm developing further. For me, coming up with hooks for stories I haven't even written yet helps me create new story ideas.
How do you get your ideas?
