I got a form reject today. But for once, it doesn't bug me at all. 'Cause let me tell you about my week.... I teach first grade. In the seven days: One student lost her home and everything in it to a fire. Even the pets. Another student went to the hospital twice with an infection that is resisting antibiotics. (She was asking for me in her delerium last night....) Another student's stepdad tried to choke his mother at her birthday party, and had to be arrested. Kids spent the night with a neighbor while she went to the hospital.

I am not kidding. These are six and seven year old kids. All of this in a single week.

So hey, bring on the rejections. I am so lucky just to be able to write, to be healthy, to have a home they can send the damn postcards to.

Amen, Jud. I have a great family, a house, and a job that pays the bills. It's all good.

Holy crap! Ya, life tends to happen in the most dramatic of ways. Sorry to hear that kids so young got a taste of cold reality. It does put any rejection into a different catagory. Hope the little ones recover and are doing well. Stay strong Teach, they're lucky to have you.
