I discovered this wonderful cooler and everyone around it about four months ago--when the full manuscript of my second novel was out to four agents--and immediately dove in. Learned a great amount in a short time.
Wish I had found you all before. But...two months ago one of those four agents offered representation. Took me 30 seconds to say yes. Couple days later the last of the four said in essence, "Sorry I missed you, but, and I know this is strange, if you have something else ready, I'll take a look."
As I write this, that second novel is out to 9 houses--and I'm waiting, fingers, toes, strands of hair, legs all crossed.
It's been a long journey to here. About five years from the moment I finished the first novel, then a couple "professional" reviews and comments, two writers groups (not at the same time), plus about 110 pitches (personal at conferences, e-mail, snail mail), about 40 requests for partials and about 15 fulls.
