Hi all, just wanted to introduce myself real quick. I've been reading the forum for a few months now and decided that in between semesters is a good time to join. I'm finishing up community college in the San Francisco Bay Area and plan on transferring to a UC within a year. Not sure what I'll be able to contribute here, but I'll try my best to offer something as I'm sure I will have many, many questions. I've just recently began submitting my work around the net and have got a few things on beturtle.com (great cause, great people, and pays $10/article), am working with a few others sites, and sent in some fiction to contests.

Welcome to AW, Brainandfingertips! I used to live in the Sf area, in the burbs. It didn't suit my personality, but we're starting to miss the sunshine--I'll bet it's sunny *right now*, isn't it? Hi all, I'm having trouble working my avatar. When I go to My Avatar it only allows me to choose the public ones or the 2 award ones, then when I go to My Profile I can choose it as my picture IN my profile, but how do I get my pic as my avatar?

At Absolute Write, we've also have enabled custom avatars, which allows you to upload an avatar image from your computer once you become a "Super Member" (you need to have posted 50 times and have a reputation score of 10 or more).
