And if you click on the "Will a Bookstore Carry My Book?" link, you get a "File Not Found" error.

Oh there's much more. But I found it odd that they were lifting material directly from PA's site.

Oh, perhaps not ODD. After all, they're still in business, so why not pay homage to a company that seems to be raking in the bucks.

Only be sure to always call it, please, "research."

Roval has updated their site. Primary on their About Us page: "Roval is not vanity publishing or a self publishing company".

The cognitive dissonance make head go blooey.

Especially when right there on the first page is a listing of their packages and prices. Sheesh.

Well but "in business" doesn't mean they're making any money. If this operation is being run out of some idiot's basmement, as long as he can afford the web space he can remain "in business" as long as he wants.

Roval - Nice to read the comments

Well, it appears there are some determined to rip apart a start up company. That's a shame. Does everyone swear allegiance to Xlibris before joining? Excuse me if I barf when i think of that Philippines scam job.
If some text is copied, I will, I assure you, change it. I wouldn't want to be accused of plagiarism. That was never my intention.
But the important thing to me is that my clients are happy and selling their work. And that is what really counts IMHO.
So, does anyone want to start a POD company? Next?
C'mon...be nice and be civil and we can all benefit.
And I do NOT run the business from my basement. It's too cold there.

I'm sorry?

How exactly is it uncivil to point out that a vanity press is a vanity press? You are a vanity press. There's no getting around that.

I have no loyalty to Xlibris, no. I have no loyalty to any self-publisher; why the heck would I? I don't self-publish. I don't POD. I write for large publishing houses, and get paid well--they pay me, I don't pay them a penny--for my books.

Why would I want to start my own vanity press or POD house? I'm a writer, not a publisher; I get paid to write books. Actually doing the work of printing them and getting them on store shelves isn't my job; I have nothing to do with that part of the business.

I don't think it's particularly "civil" to barge in here and accuse us all of being in Xlibris's pocket, and of trying to rip apart a small press. Nobody's ripping up anything. What we are doing is pointing out that you are a vanity press, despite your claims not to be. You charge authors to publish their books. That makes you a vanity press.

But since you're here, and we're all wrong, why not actually prove your "publisher" is a good choice? Tell us about your editing and distribution. Tell us you've started paying advances. Tell us how many bookstores we can find your books in. We're always willing to listen.

Nothing published since 2008. Devastated, no doubt, by Lee taking her sequel to AuthorHouse.

Oops, sorry, CaoPaux. I thought Roval and AG were the same. ::hangs head in shame:: I've been mixing my scammers -- now I will have such a headache in the morning!

They do tend to blur together after awhile. Plus 99.99% of Roval's 'Net presence is Lee spamming her book, but she's now with AG Press, but using AuthorHouse, too... *throb*

Roval Publishing is, based on my reading of their Marketing Guide (a free download at Lulu.com) an utter waste of time and money.

Does anyone know if a (free) copy of this Marketing Guide is still available anywhere online? I tried the link but it doesn't work, and searching Lulu for "Roval Publishing Marketing Guide" didn't work either.
