Hi everyone,
My name is Brianne but I chose the pen name of Breeya Shay to write under. I decided to use a pen name because I am kind of shy and I tend to write things on the steamy side. I chose Breeya because a lot of people call me Bree and I just thought Breeya sounded neat. I also chose the name of Shay because my mom once told me my name was supposed to be Shayanne but I guess my parents changed their minds. ;)
Um, okay so let me properly introduce myself. First off, when I'm nervous, I tend to ramble so I'm going to apologize in advance. I'm sorry. So I am 21 years old and am finishing up my third year of university as a history student, which I know you might find odd as many of my stories have nothing to do with history in any way but the subject has always fascinated me. I like to write romance stories, some times the normal kind and some with a bit of the paranormal added to it. I kind of branch off here and there. Um ... I was hoping that by posting my work on here I could get critiqued and advice from other aspiring authors like myself and I was hoping to learn more about writing. I've never taken a course on writing minus high school's Writer's Craft - which was a lot of fun though I have to admit, I didn't learn much.
Um ... I don't really know what else to say on here - how about, if anyone has any questions to let me know?
Oh also - please don't judge - but i'm sure you all understand what it's like to get writer's block, well, in the last 2 years or so, I have found that a good way to get past my writer's block was to write fanfiction. Actually, to write Harry Potter fanfiction, which I did under the pen name of Breanie. That's about it I guess.
So hi everyone and thanks for letting me join this site, I'm interested to see what I can explore on it.
Thank you,
Cheers,
~Breeya~

I write fantasy with a good dollop of romance. You'll find loads of help down in the genre forums, and the Share Your Work area. We'll be gentle.

Welcome, Breeya.

Don't worry about being nervous, or that you won't fit it. We're a varied bunch with all sort of experiences and backgrounds. There's only a few simple rules and you don't sound like someone who is going to intentionally break any of them, so you have nothing to worry about. If you make a mistake or post something in the wrong forum, don't worry about it; there are moderators and other members here who will gently point you in the right direction until you find your way.

;-)

Thanks! That makes me feel better. Right now I'm just exploring the site and trying to figure out how to work everything - sometimes my computer skills are not so good.
It's nice to meet you guys and thanks for the welcome

Welcome to the place and enjoy. Nothing to be ashamed about writing steamy stuff, i have before know *blushes* well any macho credibility i had has gone. I actually gave up before writing anything decent as i had heard to much info about how hard it is for a bloke to get published in that field.

Hope to bump into you around the place, and if you bump into me in the "Drunk" thread i will give you this sorry in advance. :)

Okay, I have a question - if I wanted to post a piece of my writing down here on the site - how do I go about doing that? Remember, I am computer skilled challenged? i mean, do i just post it in a thread?
Help please!
Cheers,

Believe it or not, I was once shy. Well, I thought I was shy, no one else did. And I was once stormy. Now I'm leaning more towards that fine rain that becomes a mist as the storm ends. ;)

Aside from that, AW people are wonderful, and the mods here do a terrific job. Make yourself at home, and welcome!

Thanks Bingain, I appreciate the warm welcome. I hope that I won't be disappointed and I hope that I can contribute when I can.
Stormie - great advice, and I like that you seem to be a bit on the crazy side - makes me feel more at home, strangely. Thanks for the warm welcoming, everyone, I appreciate it - but now I have to get offline and go work on my presentation - seminar classes are going to be the death of me! I should work on my historiography paper as well but i'm little stuck on how to work on it - i need to be focused, but first food!
Thanks everyone!
Cheers,

Thanks!
And ha, Stormie, I think I picked that up because I'm kind of the same - shy at first, until you get to know me ... or as my friends say, then I apparently never shut up!
Thanks everyone!

Welcome. I'd work on the shyness factor if I were you. Once you're a published author you'll need to get out and meet your adoring public. And this is a good forum for getting out and mixing with people - about twenty thousand of them!

I will do my best about the shyness thing but really I am okay. I'm always really shy at first but once I get going i feel better. For example, I am currently volunteering at my old high school with one of my old history teachers and a few weeks ago I got to teach the grade tens something - I was terrified out of my mind! I mean I'm still a university student myself! But I made a presentation on the causes of WWI and Canada's roll in it and I did awesome if I do say so myself. I was nervous at the beginning but once I started talking and answering questions I knew what I was doing. The same thing happened when this teacher asked me to stay back and answer some questions about university for her grade twelves. I was nervous and shy but I was okay afterwards.
I'm hoping this will go away in time but I don't know.
Thanks though!!:Hug2:
