A dark, evil place.
We already have rabies here; we don't need crotchrot, fangdecay and oogyscrote too.

My ancestors were Border Reivers. Your Archbishop of Glasgow cursed our whole family. And it's never been rescinded.

Tell you what. Get that curse lifted or I'm coming over and I'll infect the lot of you.

eta: Just a wee bit of the curse:

I curse their heid and all the haris of thair heid; I curse thair face,
thair ene, thair mouth, thair neise, thair tongue, thair teeth, thair crag,
thair shoulderis, thair breist, thair hert, thair stomok, thair bak, thair
wame, thair armes, thais leggis, thair handis, thair feit, and everilk part
of thair body, frae the top of their heid to the soill of thair feet, befoir
and behind, within and without.

far from the madding crowd
I liked this bit:

And, finally, I condemn thaim perpetualie to the deip pit of hell, the remain with Lucifer and all his fallowis, and thair bodeis to the gallows of the Burrow Mure, first to be hangit, syne revin and ruggit (then ripped and torn) with doggis, swyne, and utheris wyld beists, abhominable to all the warld.

That curse was extremely thorough!

That wasn't a curse - that's how Scottish clergy show affection!

Well the curse does explain a lot.

Lifting a curse, huh? I am sure it has been done. I will check into that and be back. Anything to get that abomination off my screen. Ick, ick, ick, ick, ick. :D

AW. A very nice place!
attn Ambrosia and Angie:
You can do what I did: turn off "display avatars" in your User CPs, under "options."
I did this 2 weeks ago, thanks to a tip from Medi. I also switched off "images." Now all I see on the screen is text, making it much easier to read through threads. Of course I do miss out on some neat graphics from time to time, like Haggis' which sounds like a real beaut, judgin' by the adverse reaction to it :)

Unfortunately, Ken, you can't turn off links. Of course, it's totally up to you whether you follow them or not.

But, Ken, what would be the fun in that? :D Besides, if I was gonna do that I would have done it ages ago when Angie changed her avvie. It causes me to shiver every time I see it.

Bwahahaha. :D
Alright, you evil little pup. I did some research and found out that a curse is only valid as long as you believe in it. So stop believing in it already!

To aid in your journey from belief to non-belief, go down to your local head shop. What do you mean they don't have those anymore? *sigh* Ok, go to your local health food store. Buy a bundle of sage. Take it home. Open a window to let the bad stuff out. (The instructions on this cleansing ritual says to let the evil out, but I am thinking it is probably to keep from suffocating on the smoke from the sage.) Light the end of the smudging bundle of sage, start at the front door, proceed in a clockwise fashion around the entire house, waving this smoke over every person and animal and place you think you need it, until you have covered the entire place and return to the front door. Ummmm... thinking on it you might need to turn off those smoke detectors before you start this ritual. Just remember to turn them back on once you finish!

There are some minor words to say as you walk around the house but I am sure that varies from religion to religion so I would just create your own, since you already know it is your belief in this nonsense that is your real curse. Oh, be sure to snuff out the sage bundle in a properly purified sage snuffing out bowl (or clean ashtray) when you finish your circle of the house. Otherwise you might accidently burn your house down, again confirming the belief you are cursed.

There. I did it. Now it is your turn, Haggis. Change that avvie!

I remain unconvinced.

*folds front legs across chest, defiantly*

DEFIANTLY?! That sounds a tad more than just unconvinced.

I offer a bribe of ultra premium dog food; you say you are cursed.
I find a way to remove the curse; you say you are unconvinced.
It is the defiant front leg crossing that really gets me, though.

What will it take, Haggis? What do you want?

And pick that white glove up off the ground. That is no way to behave. Bad boy!

Very well, Ambrosia. You've shamed me into making a change.

Purdy, ain't I? :D
