Question Im finding myself to be rather witty.

I've been working on this manuscript, and witty things pop into my head that I NEVER in my life would have said. I've added them in, to give some comedy to my character. Anyone else find they may not be a comedian in life, but their MC is?

Ha! I was just thinking this earlier.

Lori (thethinker42 on AW) is always raving about my male MC's bantering skills. He's an incorrigible flirt, bless him. Half the time it feels like I'm so deep into his character that I'm not writing - he's speaking.

Might sound pretentious but hey, if it works, it works, right? It shows we've written something which fascinates us so hopefully other people will be entertained by them one day too.

I love laughing at/appreciating my own work.
I am editing a story I wrote in the first person and the MC is based on me; is it bad that I find her to be made of awesome? LOL

Of course it's not. I find my latest character awe inspiring. Of course it was written by me....

Heh, I tend to attribute it to the characters. I have one in particular who comes out with things that don't feel like they come from me at all, but from him. He makes me laugh. I'm hoping other people will find him witty too, or he's going to be unbearable, it's one of his few saving graces.

Yeah, I'm the one who always comes up with that perfect witty retort ten minutes after the conversation is over. Works well for writing, though.

How wonderful for you! It sounds terrific that you're so into your character that these things are coming out. Goes to show you have great things in your head, huh?

This. I'm much wittier when there's no pressure.

You know what's really weird? People laugh at things I say when I'm not even trying to be funny. Kind of makes me wrinkle my brow.

What were we talking about?

2Wheels has a spectacular aura
It's not just witicism's that can emerge. I have a character who's a bit of a cynical wisecrack at times, but also has great insight into people. I often find myself wishing he was a real person that I could talk to ... maybe HE could straighten me out!

I like my characters to have a bit of edge, whether witty, sarcastic, sardonic... They're all pretty clever, though I often can't think of what I want to say in real life.

Yeah, it's getting to the point that my husband can tell when I'm reading your book because I start giggling uncontrollably. That character is freaking hilarious and sexy.
