Cheering you all on!
Got an update from The Agent. He has the book at 8 houses with queries out to several more.

It's a *gulp* impressive list. *claws her way to the liquor to see if drinking straight gin will help*
Ooh, exciting!

HI, guys! I was told to come here by some friends in the YA board. So here's my awkward intro.
I'm Kody. I"m seventeen, and I just got my agent last month. I write YA, and my novel, The Duff, is being pitched tomorrow morning. I"m such a newb that I don't even really know what to expect or what this means yet, but I"m learning! Anyway, hola!

Welcome, Kody!

I am blown away by the younger writers on this board. I don't think I could have managed to finish a short story at 17, much less a book!

Way to go!

Welcome, Kody! From your sig line, you look like a pretty prolific writer! Good luck!

YAwriter, hang in there! I know how you feel. I'm going on 10 months out with one book, and one week on the latest one. It's a race! Ha! :D

The nail-biting has begun again. Waiting for agent to read new novel. Still waiting for contract on novel sold in March. Argh... Tearing hair out now!

Hi, everyone! I"m here. And nervous.

Since you guys have been doing this longer than me, can I ask a quick question? My agent is pitching my novel today and tomorrow. What exactly does that mean? I feel like a real child, which I guess I am, but humor me anyway, would you?

We're all nervous. No calling yourself names, or I bring out the Ruler of Correction to whack your knuckles. (I used to be a nun. I has skillz.)

In my case, my agent pitched my book last Thursday, and two houses had the ms. on Friday. He pitched some more on Monday, and 6 more have it now. He also has queries out to several more, and we're waiting on those.

AFAIK, it's like us, querying agents. Only our agents have more clout when they Q pubs.

Someone know more about this? Please smack me down! :)

Thanks, Lily! The knowledge is helpful. I'm a publishing virgin. I know I"m not the only one who's been there, so it helps to talk to others!

Welcome Kody, & good luck!

I'm still not sure whether I'm out on wider submission yet or not, I've been kind of left in the dark since I got that rejection. Agent said last week she'd call on the 11th; I haven't heard a word from her. I just want to know my book is back out there!

Welcome Kody! How exciting! All I know about subs is that my agent phone pitched editors and then sent the manuscript to them. Nine of them. And then she shared the names and imprints with me.

And on that note, the silence is making me crazy! I'm dying for some sort of news even here. Even a rejection. Seriously. I just want to hear something.

Okay, I think I get it! Well, I'm hoping, with college starting and all, I'll have plenty to distract me. That's the hope! And my new WIP should help, too.

lol!

"sigh" I'm hoping I'll have time to write in college. I"m going to a touch private school and I'm in HOnors,so I'll be busy as hell. But I"m majoring in writing, so I hope I can fit my WIP in there somewhere.
