Oh, what mystery series is this? Please help me!

So I saw this mystery series on an endcap at the bookstore over the weekend, and they looked really interesting and now I'm really regretting not buying one of the books because I forgot the name! I tried googling but I failed. Here's what I remember-

-Writer is from the UK somewhere.
-There's a detective duo.
-They investigate weird cases. The name of the series was something like curious cases or weird mysteries or something. Emphasis on the cases being weird, but I'm not sure if there are fantastical elements. I believe there was like one about a mysterious box, and one about mysterious rooms maybe?
-There are at least three books in the series out in trade paperback, each one was a different solid color with a drawing on the front.
-The books don't have that serious! danger! and killing! sort of covers like some mysteries have, they look a bit more like contemporary novels. I'm not sure if they're cozies or not.

What books are these? Any help is greatly appreciated!
