Does anyone have an idea of how online shopping works?
My dad doesn't.
He screwed up royally.

...Well, it was kind of my fault, too.

It has to do with the fredflare.com order confirmation.
And me freaking out because HE PUT THE WRONG EMAIL ADDRESS IN.
And now I'm scared that my Hello Kitty lunchobx won't come in the mail.

Perhaps this is too obvious of a solution, but have you tried calling and/or emailing them to ask them to change the address? :tongue

edit: Oops, I thought you were talking about the postal address. Order confirmation isn't usually a necessary step - you don't need the order confirmation to receive the order. You might still want to call them to make sure.

Errr....
Let me see.

So the order confirmation is really just like a receipt, right? No personal info on it?

I'll do a quick skim through order/booking confirmations in my inbox to see what information is there.

* My full name
* Last four digits of my debit card number
* Details of the thing that I bought
* Uh-oh ... this one contains my postal address, delivery address and mobile phone number.

Hmm. I'd think they wouldn't put important financial details in the email (since that's a real fraud risk), but if you gave a delivery address, it's quite likely that might be in there.

Well, like, I just don't get how one person can find so much wrong in something you write.

It's crazy.

I am also familiar with this feeling. *glances at query*

My trick for dealing with critiques is to stick them all in one document and reshuffle them all so that similar parts are together, eg. all comments about dialogue are under a dialogue heading. Compliments go at the top. In bold. :)

Oh dear. Oh dear.

Never trust your parents to order something online for you.

Give the company a call tilt and see if they can fix it.

I emailed them, actually. But there's no way to simply unsend an email with personal info in it.

Best-case scenario, they tell you the email didn't contain anything more important than your first name. Worst-case scenario, they tell you your full card number and account number were included, and you have to call the bank to put a stop on the card. It's a hassle, but it doesn't have to be a huge drama. :)

Whose email address did your dad accidentally put in, Bernie Madoff? You seem very worried. :tongue

Para-- Lol. It was very close to my email account, but without the .w. in between.
But, it wasn't my card. It was my dad's.

Sounds like a good idea to me. I'm not nearly as organized.

Oh, is that all? I thought the recipient would be a really embittered ex or something. If your dad just misplaced a letter, there's a good chance that email address doesn't even exist and the order confirmation will just bounce. :)

Sounds like a good idea to me. I'm not nearly as organized.

It is partly an organisation thing, so you can get a full picture of what everyone is thinking about a specific element, but it's also because I'm really thin-skinned. When I read a critique I skim right past the compliments and zero in on the bad parts, and then I'm all upset and at risk of acting like a whiny prima donna. Breaking down the critiques helps me to process rationally and give the positive stuff as much weight as the bad.

When I get tough critique I also try and remind myself of a few things:

1. Good enough is fine. Perfect is for later.
2. Everything can be fixed.
3. This is the millionth draft of this chapter. There will be a millionth-and-one. It's not the be-all and end-all.
4. People still love me even if they don't love my work.
5. At least it's spelled correctly.

So, focus on the positive too, and keep everything in perspective. :)
