Movie or Book?

I agree that the book is slightly better than the movie, but the movie rocks, too. That's always an example I cite when this sort of question comes up. Excellent book made into an excellent movie.

I love The English Patient the movie better than I love the book, though I love them both. The movie has a heavier hand with the romance, which I love.

Also, Love Story is a book that feels too sappy when I read it, but watching the movie feels just right. Maybe it's the good acting.

The Maltese Falcon movie did the book justice.

The Psycho movie did the book justice, also.

I have to say that while there are some exceptions, the book is always better than the movie.

For me, those exceptions are: Shawshank Redemption, Green Mile, the Lord of the Rings Trilogy....

I completely disagree about the Godfather, The Princess Bride, and Twilight

Of course, these are my opinions....but thats the beauty of this place!

L.A. Confidential. While the book is brilliant in its own way, the movie did a terrific job of distilling its essence and creating a film you can understand without straining yourself too much.

I think Ella Enchanted was a lot better than the movie. I read the book three times.
I wonder if Stardust was better than the comic. Because the movie was great.

The Hunt for Red October was actually better than the book.

Ditto Agatha Christi's Five Little Pigs. And the film Candyman (based on a short story by Clive Barker).

Methinks the adaptation of Fingersmith was equal to the novel. I would say the same of Let The Right One In and also The Godfather.

I thought The Notebook was a good movie. Then I saw the author, Nicholas Sparks, has also written other books that were made into movies: A Walk to Remember, A Message in a Bottle, NIghts in Rodanthe. There's probably more...

So, I picked up a book of his - seriously shocked how lame it was. No chemistry between characters, lots of non-literary despcription, wooden dialogue. Also (dont know why i bothered) read another one of his - giving him the bemefit of the doubt. Just as bad. The movies seriously did him a huge favour! Made him look kinda good
