I can see it in my mind but actually getting it out with good descriptions is hard.
I know, same with me and writing sword fights. My book Cobalt has pirates, and I know I'm going to have to have some skirmishes. All that parry, feint, jab stuff is easy to imagine but hard to write! Luckily, there are some excellent fight scenes in the books I recommended. You could use the same swordfighting terminology for fighting with sticks, too.

Aw, hugs for kitty. I gotta take mine back. Her eye infection didn't clear up, so who knows what it is.
This crap always happens around Christmas too! My other cat is prone to eye infections. The last time I had to take him in for one, I kept the antibiotics after he was done using them (they didn't have an expiration date). I used them the next time he had an infection and it worked great, aside from me almost losing a finger!

Stupid cats. I love them, but their health problems are expensive!

Thanks Kath.

Thanks Kristin, I'll have to get that book.

I can see it in my mind but actually getting it out with good descriptions is hard.

I wonder if you'd get better rec's if you posted in novels or in sci-fi/fantasy?

What I love is when the doctor said if it wasn't the one infection, it could be Chlymdia! I'm like, "WTF? My indoor cat has an STD in her eye!"

Honestly!!!

lol I love it too but I've had enough eye-rolls when I say that it's now in the secret box of shame next to "How You Remind Me", "Gloria", and "Everytime".

Um...cough..How You Remind Me is one of the few songs I've ever karaoked in public. You're talking about Nickelback, right?

I think reading a book AND watching a movie would help. I plan to watch some action scenes over the next few weeks, to ramp mine up. Oh, it's so hard doing research! ;)

My werewolf transformation scenes are loosely based on An American Werewolf in London. None of those easy transformations for my boys. We're talking bone shattering, muscle pulling, you'll wake up exhausted and naked in the morning transformations.

I need ANYONE's thoughts on the sex scene I posted in MDW. I'm afraid I went a little too far again... I can post it here if anything?

Hey, oldsies. So I'm going to finish my second draft today...and then immediately start working again. Can I talk anybody into reading it some time in the next few weeks? :e2shrug: If you're curious, I'd be happy to tell you what it's about.

ETA: I'm go look, KC.

I'm not sure whether or not you went too far since I don't read a lot of contempt/edgy YA.

A few things did stick out., most noticeably the voice. It didn't really feel as though I were in the head of a teenage boy. Most adults don't think in terms like "climax" so I can't see a teen doing so.

The plan B also seemed a bit off to me. Maybe things are different in the States but it's not really the type of thing you keep stashes of up here (though it is readily availble).

Maybe the next draft? I would be fine with you sending it to you, but by the time you finish, I might say well this changed and this changed and this changed and then you'd waste your time and I don't want that. :(

Or I could send you in sections since I think a lot more's going to change toward the end than the beginning. (Can you tell I really want you to beta :p)
