No, you are simplifying it too far. To say Pandora is simply a story of curiosity killing the cat, implicating all foolish mortals, is ignoring the importance of Pandora being a woman. You can generalise its message to all humans, but then you can generalise the seduction of Eve as well. But it's foolish to ignore the subtext that women are the cause of all evil in the world, or alternately that things start going downhill when women start asking too many questions.
Of course, Cameron could just be making an allusion to the phrase "opening Pandora's box" which has become debased from the original myth and means something like "opening a can of worms". But like I said, overanalysis is fun.
