My uneducated guess is that "small" and "big" refer to the conflict. Small means it isn't relevant to enough people, there aren't overarching themes that everyone can relate to, it's sort of... claustrophobic. Like, a book that deals with the experiences of a boy getting bullied, and nothing else. So "big" would be a story where the conflict is TOO... overarching. Or it has TOO many themes and conflicts going on. In that it feels bland, or else it makes the reader feel overwhelmed? Maybe? I'm more sure of my thoughts on Small than Big. hahaha

ETA: "Small" means the scope of the story isn't broad enough to capture a wide enough audience, I think--or the stakes aren't high enough, maybe.

Gah, maybe I should try to look up it, bc I hear this term bandied about all the time.

Don't worry about it! Even if it's no, she's providing good feedback, so the glass is half full!

Yeah, that's my name--thanks!

Here's my prediction:

CE: This just feels too familiar and there are too many unanswered questions. Why does spiking a Beer Ponger in the head get her into the Academy? What goes on there? Why does she get her exes involved? Sorry, I'm going to have to pass.
