I write mostly fiction, but I've also published a number of nonfiction articles in magazines. The nonfiction has been mostly stuff for which I provided my own photographs for illustration (or pieces that required no illustrations).
I have an idea now for a nonfiction historical article. What are some good sources for uncopyrighted illustrations? The Smithsonian or other government offices? How does one go about selecting and ordering?
thanks!
