That's MK, right, Bex? 4 weeks isn't that long (unless you know she used to take 2 weeks; then it seems forever ;))

Yeah, I'm kind of not liking what I'm seeing lately in regards to a certain someone's approach to things on social media outlets. I just think a line is being crossed, kwim?

Was that vague enough?

When I hear back from her, I'm trunking SM.

Yep! 4 weeks is SOOO long compared to the response time everyone else has gotten. *runs off, crying*

lol

Yeah I'm taking a break from Luminous to finish up P5 for summer, unless I get another request, then I would go back and do edits.

But honestly, I think I would get a STELLAR amount of requests with P5 so it would be really stupid not to work on it now.

How would you guys describe being burned alive? o_O

*grins*

Burnt skin smells like burnt hair first. And there's a point that the person will black out before they're dead - either from smoke inhalation or nervous overload on the pain receptors. To deal with rising blood pressure from pain, the body will shut down.

I'm not sure how it works with so many pain receptors firing, but when fighting for air, you don't really think about anything other than reaching a source of fresh oxygen. No fear, no pain, no nothing after the first few seconds (1st hand experience with almost drowning). Everything crystallizes around whatever you perceive as a way out and that's the only thing your brain processes.

There's a definite divide at the point of "fight or flight".

Was that in response to my last post? Or was it coincidental?

No, I totally understand

(see my rant yesterday, also my fears about another agent a few weeks ago)

That's how I feel. I think my dystopian would do 10x better than a book about werewolves. People see "werewolf" and tend to turn the other way.

I have a really odd question.

If you have a YA fantasy - do you only query YA or do you query Fantasy as well?

Also, I am seeing a lot of agents that have YA and childrens listed, but not MG . . . is childrens picture/chapter books or MG as well?

I am trying to get an agent list made for my WIP, that way I can use it once I am done, but MG is in a odd spot with agents. Any ideas? Do I put it in childrens, Fantasy, MG?? *confused*

WOW. You're awesome. I didn't know people passed out because of the smoke!

And I can totally see getting fresh oxygen, not thinking about anything else.

*hugs*

Yeah, some agents sometimes seem to forget that writers might make judgments based on what they say just as quickly as they make judgments based on what a writer might say (in social media or in a query)

Ooops, yeah, I meant to quote you!

kwim = know what I mean

Yeah, it's totally, completely out of hand and, truth be told, makes me skeptical.

Don't get me wrong, I'd still probably cry if I got an offer, but really? Is all of this necessary?

Um, yeah, I decided not to continue on the pied piper route by unfollowing this person's ride. Very disappointed. And more appalled and how many people jumped the bandwagon on this one.

First query agents who say they want MG fantasy. Then ones who say childrens fantasy (and don't appear to be strictly PB). Then agents who want MG (then childrens) who don't specifically say no fantasy. Then agents who want fantasy who don't specifically say no childrens (or nothing under YA)

If they list children's and YA, assume it means anything over "chapter books". If they mean PB, they'll list it specifically.
