Well, announcing the wrong winner of a Presidential election, as THE CHICAGO TRIBUNE did on November 3, 1948, is nothing to be proud of, but at least today's journalists don't make mistakes and today's journalists--despite all their fancy equipment--are just as prone to error as (if not even more so than) their predecessors.

EETHIR GA LOT IFOBBH ENLLTTT

#1 Famous defeat--or victory, depending on which side you were on.
#2 Commonly called by another name, but this one is found in the history books.

#3 The leader of the losing side had been at the bottom of his class at West Point. Maybe they should have chosen somebody else?

BATTLE OF THE LITTLE BIGHORN
aka Custer's Last Stand

I used to think his name was Custard when I was a bit younger.

Okay, okay, I got it: THEY DIED WITH THEIR BOOTS ON.

See, the problem was that I thought you had mistyped the Garryowen thing and I remembered Gary Owens from Laugh-In, and I was having a terrible time trying to figure out how a guy in front of an old-fashioned mic with his hand to his ear could have anything to do with Custer...

The Rev has had a long day.

I couldn't get Chris Farley as Matt Foley out of my head while trying this one. I realized the first name could be Susan and there she was: Susan Lynn Orman

Did Brian Dunkleman leave American Idol or was he shown the door? If he made the decision, he must be kicking himself all the way to the unemployment office. But it sounds like the producers were not that into him after the first season.
