"Hinterlands", William Gibson, found in Burning Chrome. Great stuff, spooky, lonely and vaguely depressing.
Two I read recently over on Clarkesworld (issue 40) are "The Things' by Peter Watts and "All the Kings Monsters" by Megan Arkenburg. The first is a lovely little homage to John Carpenter's movie, and the second is just what I think a short story should be. Lovely stuff.
