I'm having an issue with a character, and I'm not even entirely sure how to put it into words (or, at least, coherent words) because it seems to encompass so much.
I've got a YA urban fantasy WIP, and I can't for the life of me figure out one of the primary character's name. I started out trying to use a Welsh name, because the fantasy part is mostly based in Welsh mythology. The problem is, well, a lot of Welsh names are tongue twisters for non-speakers, and the ones that aren't are famous for one reason or another (Ianto, Emrys), or modern (Dylan, Evan). I'd like to avoid modern names since the character in question is Fae, but, at the same time, I don't want something so wildly unusual that it slows the flow of the story.
Are there any suggestions for this kind of situation? Do I go with the lesser evil and use a modern, but easy to handle name, or use something more fantasy-y but clumsy? Or use a name that's already go some sort of connotation to it?
