Meh, I'm doing a lot of editing. Characters don't deserve it any rougher of a hand than already dealt. They probably hate me as is.

yeah, cable theft is what we used to call it when someone used a descrambler or some other means to get cable television channels without having to pay for them.

Hi Lone Wolfe. Welcome to the pub. :hi: Great to have you here.
We don't have cable tv, like you do in the States but we have satellite tv. To date nobody's tried to steal my DSTV dish. (Probably because it's on my roof and quite hard to get to.)

I'm being somewhat productive today. I just start to get irritated with my work after I've looked at it every day for the last week. Maybe I need a break?

Hi Radiance. Welcome to the pub. :hi: Well, I haven't seen you here before so welcome from me, anyway.

I'm so with you in getting irritated with one's work. I've got to cut 80,000 words out of my ms because it's too long. So far I've cut 8,342 and I'm almost a quarter of the way through. Statistically speaking, that's not going to get me there.

Ah, well. We just plod on, don't we?

I thought I'd ordered one. But it seems I may be mistaken as no waiter has come to serve me yet. I'm still waiting for my Baileys on the rocks.

*Pours Baileys over ice in a large glass. Slides it over.*

The way I feel about my writing today, it would be better off if I just took a job as a barmaid.

Or maybe I should take a chainsaw to my ms. Yeah! That would work.:evil

Well, the drive was LONG... and I don't really drive distances well, but it went ok, overall. I managed to make the 1200 mile trip without killing the 2 yr old, which was a plus... lol. The new place is amazing and I love it. Now I just have to hope I can find a job fast enough to pay for it. Luckily, we're paid through to the 1st of May, so... we'll see how that goes. Internet JUST got worked out today, even though it was SUPPOSED to be connected last Friday (go figure), but I'm back and VERY happy to be... I've missed the pub and all of you!!!

Welcome back Vampgirl, glad to hear the move went well.

Everyone have good writing today?

-Suzanne

I didn't get much work done yesterday. It seems that I have painted one of MCs into a corner and he can't get out. All allies are tied up (some of them literally so) and he could really use some help. *sigh* I hate to do the outside force thing, you know like dropping a dragon on the building or something, but the story seems to be leaning that way.

You could take Raymond Chandler's advice: "When things start to slow down, bring in a couple of guys with guns in their hands."

Way to go Jed! Here's an extra Baileys on the rocks for you. Might have one myself, though it is early.

Don't give up Gail, and put down the chainsaw. We just got this new pub! It might take more than one edit to cut that much, or you might find your MS needs to be longer than the average. I should realistically cut 50-60k from mine, but I'm shooting for 30k. So far, statistically speeking, I should easily surpass 30k cuts, but we'll see. I know we want to "conform" (sort of) to the norm for marketability's sake, but you don't want to kill the MS. If this one doesn't get signed, then maybe your next will. When you're a famous author with big contracts :) then they'll let you publish just about anything and you can come back to your too long MS and publish as is!

Kentucky, somehow.
Hey.
I guess I was supposed to stop in here for a drink before I started wandering the halls.
Hi. I'm new.
Since you have that bottle of irish cream out, go ahead and pour some into my coffee. I already put some in myself, but this day is shaping up like I'm gonna need a double, and since I didn't have the foresight to bring a travel flask, well...

Cheers.

Look. No chainsaw. Honest. That was just metaphoric. :D

Put the chainsaw down and step back slowly. I'm sure it isn't that bad. You having a specific problem with it?

Congrats, Jed. You're a sooper-dooper pub-keeper! Hope you're around here for a looooong time.

No problem with ms, other than that it is 80,000 words too long.

Thank you. :Hug2: I'll hang on to those words!

Your travel flask is no good here. Drinks are always on the house.

Happy 4th moddiversary, Jed! (I love new words) I never realized how welcoming and helpful dragons could be until I started hanging out at your super-dooper pub!

I baked a batch of chocolate chunk cookies just for you. And I added a tablespoonful of Baileys, and an extra cup of mouth watering chocolate chunk cookie smell to the batter. :D

Hmmmm everyone seems to order Baileys in this pub. Is it a writers thing, I wonder?

Yesterday they had the latest variant flavour on offer at my local supermarket. Hazelnut Baileys. Two thumbs up!

Wow! I hope all this new stuff is an April Fool's joke.

Hi Kit. You can get anything here.

Right now I think I need a double espresso. Maybe I'm still asleep and having a nightmare.

Thanks Derek, and thanks to everyone else for the congrats. I'm still trying to find a way out, but the bungee cord Mac attatched to me keeps snapping me back here.
Hasn't he looked after you well??
It helps to have a constant supply of Baileys. ;)
Cheers Jed, the next round's on you! <ducks and runs>

What!!!! I have to buy a round. :gone:

Nope, not for much longer. Today is my last day. But it's been fun and I'll miss you guys.
No problem with ms, other than that it is 80,000 words too long.
Take out all of these words 'that' 'then' 'discombobulated' and of course 'and'. You'll knock at least 50k off that word count no probs :D

Thanks, Swachski, those cookies sound fabulous :drool

I'm a regular Baileys fan. Tried the caramel baileys once and didn't like it at all.

I like the new header which Clockwork designed (so go and give him loads of reps for it), and it'd be good to keep it around for a while.

Oofta. I just woke up, grabbed my coffee and now I'm staring at the sparkly interface! I love the banner, btw.

:) *curls the ends of her mustache because... it's one of those days, isn't it?*

I'll think I'm going to need a Tom Collins today - make it a double!

Here, there, everywhere.
It is one of those days, indeed. :D

*waves hello to the Pubbers and new folks* :hi:

My apologies for not being around more. Life's been kinda crazy lately.

*gets Baileys*

Jed, I must say you look absolutely... cute! :D
